We stayed for a week in 'The Daymer' cottage. The cottage is beautifully furnished and finished and very cosy and comfortable - perfect size for two people. There is a lovely log burner for those chilly nights and a good size kitchen and bathroom. It also has it's own self contained 'front garden' with a gas bbq, tables, chairs & deckchairs provided. The only thing I would say is that I think this cottage would benefit from a kingsize bed as opposed to the double that is currently there. There was a really useful welcome pack in the cottage which provided us with lots of useful information on places to visit, local supermarkets, places to eat etc. The farm setting was great (as long as you don't mind the cockerels early morning wake up call!!!) and the Horace the donkey was adorable and particularly friendly if you were armed with carrots or apples!!! The farm is in a great location - a 15 minute walk through the neighbouring field takes you down to Mawgan Porth where there is a fabulous beach and also a newsagents, supermarket, pub, surf shop & pasty shop!!! From Mawgan Porth you can do a lovely coastal walk to Watergate Bay or to Bedruthan Steps. Watergate Bay is a 5 minute drive away where we enjoyed a fabulous meal at Jamie Olivers 'Fifteen' and Padstow just 15 minutes drive away. The only fault I can find with this accomodation is the track into the farm as it is uneven and bumpy and difficult to negotiate in a low profile car!!! Would highly recommend Merlin Farm cottages and we hope to visit again in the future. Thanks to our hosts Lucy & Darrell.

We stayed at Merlin Farm as a base for all our trips around Cornwall, and I have to say the accommodation was lovely. We stayed in the Treyarnon, and it was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The cottages are set in a rural location so it is quiet and relaxing. It's only about a 10 minute walk away from the local beach, which is also lovely and sandy. However coming back from the beach, it's a very steep walk back up to the cottages! The hosts are very friendly which is a bonus. I'd recommend.

We have just spent the last week at Daymer Cottage on Merlin Farm and had a fantastic holiday - the cottage is the perfect size for a couple (& small dog), with a clean & modern kitchen and bathroom, plus an enclosed outdoor space complete with table & chairs and a BBQ. Our dog loved the walk down to the beach and so many of the nearby beaches, pubs, restaurants and shops are dog-friendly - he had a great time!

You can tell the Wheeler's have a good eye for detail, and the cottage is very well furnished and equipped - the fresh eggs and milk on arrival are a nice, welcoming touch & we loved the deckchairs :)

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Merlin Farm to friends and family, and we hope to return next year.

We stayed at the Daymer at the end of May 2011. Darrel and Lucy greeted us on arrival and they were both very friendly and helpful. The cottage was light, well fitted and comfortable, with a modern kitchen and bathroom. There was a pint of milk in the fridge and tea and coffee when we arrived, and a basket of fresh eggs which were delicious. Nice touches.

The walk down to Mawgan Porth beach was through a woodland path (be prepared for a bit of a steep climb on the way back up), and I'd recommend walking into St Mawgan as well.

We prefer staying in north Cornwall as the coastline is dramatic and the beaches are generally wide, sandy and often dog friendly. Just a short drive away from Merlin Farm you have Watergate Bay and Porth and, in the other direction, Treyarnon and Constantine Bays, all worth a visit.
