After booking for a birthday celebration we were left a little disappointed with the quality of our meal despite the excellent service of the kind waiting staff.

The TripAdvisor reviews are excellent and may have raised our expectations too high and unfortunately despite a varied menu we both were left somewhat disappointed at the end of the evening.

The restaurant was full and this may have effected the food quality but essentially I needed to ask for a steak knife to cut the lamb which was not as tender as expected and my husband’s chips were clearly reheated from the day before.

Please just treat this as positive feedback - we would return, it is a lovely quaint bistro in the heart of Mevagissey and the waiting staff were excellent.

Thank Christine B

We have been to Salamander before and we will keep coming back it is the most wonderful restaurant 100% for everything. Hazel is lovely along with her other hostess, you always get a warm welcome into their lovely cosy restaurant. Amazing food, wine and atmosphere at the most reasonable prices.

I had the Bass accompanied with slightly cooked baby tomatoes a large lemon wedge with a lemon and dill sauce in a little dish, it was absolutely delicious it came with a lovely side salad and dressing and new potatoes. I didn’t need the lemon and dill sauce as the fish was so tasty. My partner had scallops for starters, meaty tasty and perfectly cooked. Rib-eye steak for main accompanied with home cooked chips, slightly cooked baby tomatoes and vegetables plated separately - perfect.

Lovely bottle of red wine, sorry I cannot remember the name!

The food and whole evening was perfect as always. Highly recommend this beautiful restaurant booking is a must.

Thank Marie H

On our second visit we can only say that it is such a shame we live 300 miles away!!!! The food and service is excellent and nothing is too much trouble for the staff and the owners.Just managed to get a table before the owners were going to their daughters wedding.I only hope you had as good a time as we did. Thank you.

We visited in half term week on Monday evening 23 October. The Restaurant was full!
Fish of the day was from a choice of five. I ordered Hake and it melted in the mouth.
We also had the Sea Bass and the Cornish Sole. Both were pronounced delicious.

We ate here twice due to the food being excellent. All 4 of us chose different items steak, fish, shell fish all exquisite. The steaks were to best we have ever eaten and the fish so fresh. Wonderful friendly service all at an excellent price. This very special restaurant is a must for anyone visiting the area.
