Cape Byron lighthouse is a must-see stop if you are in Bryon Bay. It has become an icon tourist spot being at the most easterly point of Australia and shining a light over Byron Bay. The lighthouse was built at the turn of the century and was built to protect ships passing along the coast. It is automated and can clearly be been seen from the township of Bryon Bay.
There are car parks at the top as well as a cafe, small gift shop and toilet. If you feel up for a walk, park down the bottom and walk up.
The lighthouse is great to see, however, the main attraction has to be the amazing views of the ocean out to the hinterland and coast where you regularly see humpback whales, turtles and dolphins which we were lucky to see that day.
If you are feeling alittle more adventurous there are loads of walking paths around the surrounding coastline so make sure you give yourself plenty of time.
