Although the motel is older than some that are nearby, it is extremely well maintained. The rooms are generous with large bathrooms. The shower was walk in and used a shower curtain so it would be suitable for disabled access. Foxtel and internet wifi were free.
The pool area was large with BBQ facilities and plenty of tables and chairs.
The room was very clean as were the rounds.

The location is fantastic, 10 minute walk (max) to the main shopping and restaurant precinct, and motel has direct access to a lovely beach. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and offer really great extras such as trays with BBQ utensils, oil, paper towel etc, plus other extras such as beach towels and kids' beach toys. That's all great. But, the housekeeping left a lot to be desired. On the days the linen wasn't changed, bed making consisted of just pulling the blanket over the top of the messy bed, the bathroom wasn't cleaned well and although we were there for five nights, the floor wasn' t vacuumed once. We are clean and neat people around the house, but the room still looked very much worse for wear when we left due to poor housekeeping. We will give it another try next time we are in Byron Bay, in the hope the deficiencies have been rectified, as it does have so many positives.

Room Tip: Ask for a room toward the back

G'day Lorraine,
Many thanks for your valuable feedback here.
I'm the new manager at The Wollongbar Motel in Byron Bay and we've had an excellent response from our house keeping team when it comes to giving that extra 20%.
Going well and really happy with the group currently.
I look forward to meeting you when your swinging past next time.
Cheers,
Andy.

We go to Byron bay every year (from Brisbane) and almost every year we stay in this hotel. We like it because is close to the beach and everything is ok. Well almost everything ok with few minor issues. 1) The internet reception is quite poor but this is something that is common with every other hotels so what to do? 2) the carpet look old and smell a little bit. Not a big big deal but it would be nice if the management look after this issue.

Room Tip: lower floor for accessibility

The accommodation is very dated. Bed cover smelt although bed was comfortable. We overheard a couple checking in before us and they were told a nightly rate which was considerably less than we paid thru Booking.com. It was not apparent that there were different room standards.
It was difficult to park because of the number of vehicles in place when we arrived (at 4pm).
Room was cold and the aircon seemed ineffective. Would not stay again.

Stayed for 2 weeks while trying to find permanent accom. Staff were all very kind and we felt well looked after. As we were staying for a while, they provided us with hot plates, pans, cooking utensils, oil/salt/pepper etc to avoid having to eat out every meal. There was also the gas BBQ outside which we commonly used. Staff were keen to help with anything we needed. Room was very spacious and huge bed. Location is perfect! A 5 minute walk into centre of town and a back gate that goes directly onto main beach/the wreck. Was ideal as we didn't have a car initially. The only improvement would be the range on the wifi, it was a bit temperamental in the room, but worked well by the pool.
