It's hard to describe Tapas on York, because it has some unusual features. In the era of so many restaurants that are solely open for dinner (which I hate), they have breakfast, lunch AND dinner.
I've been here for both breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is my favorite and if they offer freshly made scones on the menu, take them up on it! Just like they don't do actual tapas, their scones are more like breakfast rolls than scones, but they are delicious. I had the pecan and praline french toast and it was amazing! Many egg options but many other choices, as well.
Lunch is mostly a make-your-own sandwich, with many options. The brisket is very tasty, but the amount of meat is disappointing if you like more meat-to-bread in your preference ratio. They also make some interesting soups (apple-onion!) and salads.
They have spectacular-looking cupcakes for dessert, but they display them without any glass covering, so they dry up too quickly for my taste.
Service is friendly and casual--not remotely stuffy or annoying.
If you know what to expect, you will be very happy with this restaurant for lunch and dinner.
