“Top price for a basic room”
Reviewed 8 February 2012

The motel was suggested to us by a local, but this person had never stayed there. The motel appearance looks tired and age has definitely crept up on it. The cost of a standard room was $105, but it is hard to see how the owners can justify that price. We weren't able to fully open the front door because the bed was in the way and the bed was very uncomfortable. The air conditioner is the old 'box type', is noisy and struggles to do its job. The bathroom is very basic (sink, toilet & shower), all in a confined space. The owners may be in the process of refurbishing the rooms, but the current room standard does not deserve the price they are charging. My suggestion is to ask to look at the room you are offered before you accept it. Overall, I wouldn't
stay at this motel again. Providing there is other accommodation available, I would make the effort to check them out.

Room Tip: For available accommodation, always ask to inspect the room and facilities. If they refuse, be suspi...

Paying under $100 for an Econolodge motel over Easter I thought was ok. Room was what I call standard with no real positive or negative surprises. Location is very central for shops. For the price I received what I expected.

Pleasant person at reception, the room was fine and comfortable with good clean facilities. Air con was a little noisy but nothing major. Handy for shops and restaurants with Woolworths almost next door. Happily stay here again.

I stayed in an 'economy bedroom' as a sole traveller.

The motel is in Griffith's wide, median strip-lined main street, straight as a dye. It is fairly close to shops and closer to restaurants although be warned: the main street's commercial area extends for what seems forever but is probably about 500 metres.

It is also within easy walking distance (less than 300 metres) of the railway station where the Countrylink coaches and once a week train stops.

The room was very small for an Australian motel room. The design of the motel tends to maximise noise (2-storey courtyard arrangement) but on the night I stayed, there were no problems with that.

The doors to the room looked cheap. Although they were painted acceptably the whole place looked like it could do with some major renovations.

'Run down' would be a little unfair - 'dated' would be a better description.

However, it did the job OK for one night - but if you want 21st century creature comforts or even the 1990s version, pick a more modern motel in Griffith.
