Perfect short break

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jun 1, 2019via mobile
My husband and I spend a couple of nights each year, at different times of the year, relaxing in Wombat cottage. We enjoy a coffee (from the Nespresso machine in the cottage) overlooking the olive groves. And always take home a few bottles of their olive oil for friends. The cottages are well equipped and comfortable and the patchy mobile coverage means you can properly relax without distractions. Feeding time for the animals - donkeys, sheep and pig - is not just for kids!Building these cottages and maintaining such a large property is really a labour of love for the owners Alison and Paul and it means it is a special place. We appreciate being able to bring our senior dog who loves playing with their dog Cooper. Looking forward already to next years visit!

Hosts were lovely and very helpful. Very clean and welcoming. Beautiful bushwalk on offer. Friendly wombats. Even soccer goals!
TV could use updating and a DVD player for longer stays but will definitely be back! Very glad no wifi- a real bush retreat.

We stayed for 2 nights mid week and enjoyed our cosy cabin a lot. We booked the Kookaburra cabin as it was a 2 bedroom and close to a wedding next door at the Kangaroo valley bush retreat. The venue is probably about a 15 min walk from the retreat or a 2 min drive. The closest you will find away from the retreat but still close enough to be apart of daily activities. Our cabin was cosy and well equipped. Heating was great and hot water was perfect. We had a friendly wombat at our doorstep in the afternoons - plenty of Wildlife around. We will be recommending these cottages to anyone visiting Kangaroo Valley.

We visited for 3 nights at the end of the school holidays with an 8yo and 4yo, and another family with kids the same age.
The kids loved exploring the surrounds, finding wombat holes and spotting kangaroos. We walked down to the river and back - worth the steep decent and ascent, where we saw the river.
The cottages are well equipped and comfortable. The trampoline was a huge hit, as was feeding time with the animals.
There is a large shared kitchen area (only needed if you need an oven) that also has a pool table and comfy couches, along with table tennis.
There are fire pits at each cottage and we loved lighting these and roasting marshmallows.
This is a safe and fun location for the kids and relaxing for parents.
I’d like to see the cottages modernised(circa 1980’s) but it certainly wouldn’t stop people from coming.

My husband and i stayed in the 1 bedroom cottage "The Banksia". We had a lovely plunge pool with views of Kangaroo Valley. The cottage was clean and roomy. Great place to unwind and relax. Paul and Allison run a beautiful property with olive groves and animals that kids can feed daily. Overall a great stay. Would highly recommend it.
