Hello Alison S, thank you for your review, we are pleased that the exhibitions currently on show were thought provoking and that you enjoyed the café breakfast. I will pass on your comments to the Café as they are a stand alone business to the Gallery. Kind regards
Be sure to check it's open before going there as it's closed a couple of days during the week. Always a great place to visit and I'm no great art lover. They change what's on exhibition quite often and of course the Margaret Olley set up is a permanent exhibit and well worth seeing. Didn't try the café but for those that like a coffee and cake it's available.
Hello Stefan D. Thank you for your glowing review, I will pass your comments on to the Gallery Director and staff who work behind the scenes producing an ever changing line up of public programs, educational programs, and exhibitions. We generally show just over twenty exhibitions each year, giving return visitors a fresh viewing experience. Yes, we are closed Monday and Tuesday which enables the Gallery staff to catch their collective breath, plan for the coming week and work behind the scenes in preparation of those twenty plus exhibitions that we roll our each year. Kind regards
Tweed Regional Gallery and the Margaret Olley Arts Centre is an absolute delight! Our group trip to the area , took in this Centre recently. Access is easy by lift into their lovely light and airy cafe area where we had an excellent morning tea.
The Gallery overlooks rolling hills of the Tweed Valley- quite spectacular.
Spend some time admiring the many works of art , exhibited here. The piece de resistance is definitely Sydney artist Margaret Olley. Her home has been carefully recreated at the Gallery in minute detail. One can view the various rooms / decor and her living arrangements.
Stop and relax and watch the Margaret Olley video to understand her passion for painting.
Good information from reception, group tours are regularly undertaken . Free admittance. Good parking.
Hello BabsGoldCoast. The were delighted to have your group visit the Gallery last week and are so pleased that you enjoyed your time here. Yes, the Gallery has been designed for easy access with the lift linking the carpark to the front entry forecourt. Once inside it's all one level including access to the Café and Gallery shop. We do hope that you arrange for your group to visit us again as our exhibitions change regularly, including the Margaret Olley Art Centre which will have as it's next exhibition,' A painter's house'. Kind regards
We are blessed to have the Tweed Regional Art Gallery on our doorstep. We had lunch at the gallery restaurant to celebrate my partner's birthday. The meal was fantastic. It was the best calamari I have tasted. The service was warm and friendly a the view was to die for. Great all round dining experience.
Hello Chris D, thank you for your review, I'm glad that you had a positive experience at the Café, as the Café is a privately run stand alone business I will pass on your comments to them, or you may wish to leave a comment on the TripAdvisor site that the Café operates. Thank you
Our visit to this vibrant Gallery was the highlight of a beautiful day in this glorious region. The beautiful setting of the Gallery as we approached really set the mood - the views are to die for. The gallery itself feels very welcoming and we found the staff warm and friendly. Our main interest lay in the Margaret Olley Centre but we found all the artwork was stimulating, intriguing, inspiring and fun. It was wonderful on a weekday to see the place busy with visitors, art classes, children's activities etc. The Margaret Olley Art Centre certainly did not disappoint - what a wonderful tribute to the life and work of one of our great artists. I was impressed that we were allowed to photograph the re-created interiors and will use mine to encourage others to visit. There was so much to see and, having discovered that the admission was free, I happily indulged myself at the very well-stocked and attractive gift shop. This place is a treasure trove - if you are in the area, just don't miss it. PS There's a cafe which looked inviting but we had quite a way to travel so had to resist.
Hello Bronwen23. We appreciate the time you have taken to write your review, it seems that you had a very full day at the Gallery. Yes, photography is allowed of the Margaret Olley home studio recreation, and we encourage visitors to share their photos with friends and social media contacts. We are so pleased that you found the Margaret Olley Art Centre such a stimulating environment. The current exhibition, 'Duxford Street Interiors', runs until Sunday 18 March, when it will be replaced with 'A painter's house', from Friday 30 March - Sunday 7 October. I do hope that you are able to come back to the Gallery to see this next exhibition as it features works by four artists who each spent time in the Gallery's Nancy Fairfax Artist in Residence Studio and their responses to the re-creation from the perspective of their own practice. Kind regards
Highly recommend this Art Gallery to everyone. The setting is absolutely beautiful with wonderful photo opportunities from the verandahs. Do yourself a favour - and take your friends - you will not be disappointed.
Hello Michelle, I see from the date of your review that you would have caught our latest exhibition, Abstraction: celebrating Australian women abstract artists which I hope you enjoyed. Yes, we encourage people to bring their friends along to the Gallery, especially if they have not been here before, so thank you for your review and for introducing new people to the Gallery. Kind regards
