This place was amazing! Lightly wooded, right next to a creek with a nice store; amazing grilled food; pristine, tiled bathrooms; well kept playground; large jump pad. They even let you use your own tubes on the creek! Only thing they are missing is a pool (for my germaphobe daughter!).

Excellent local Gem of a Campsite we really enjoyed our weekend getaway here! Granted it is only a few miles from our home but it was a wonderful experience in a family and pet oriented environment in the great outdoors. Saw rabbits, squirrels, blue jays, cardinals, cat birds and lots of new dog buddies for our family Shitzu TJ to get to know.
The staff especially Desiree Weaver provided customer service above and beyond!!! The place offers extremely reasonably priced great tasting food and snacks that they will deliver right to your campsite. We had a fabulous campsite right next to the Swatara Creek :) We highly recommend this place and cannot say enough good about it. Splash and water city and playgrounds for the children and wonderful General Store on site as well as horses and goats.. We will be back!!!

Room Tip: Try to get a campsite overlooking the Swatara Creek

We decided to stopover one night before heading home from our one week vacation in the 1000 Islands...staff was friendly. Pull thru site was well maintained all sites have concrete patio. There was a bouncing pillow and sprayground..the only negative i saw was no pool. Right on the Swatara Creek. So you can kayak and tube. They offer shuttle to Hershey Park in season.

A friend and I camped here one night as we were traveling on vacation. It is very close to the highway, and there are some fast food restaurants nearby if you need something to eat. The people we talked to were friendly. The facilities were clean, for the most part. The only thing that bothered me was the lack of respect from other campers who allowed their dogs to do their business on other campsites WITHOUT cleaning it up. I understand they may want FIDO and FLUFFY to go on vacation with them, but clean up after your dogs' messes. I saw many dogs at various campsites here, and when we were putting the tent up, we had to stop and clean up several piles of dog droppings before we could even start. These were fairly fresh too, so it had been done recently.

Beautifully landscaped, friendly staff, immaculate heated bath house, great dog park, great ice cream & fully loaded camp store! Only downside was traffic noise from highway, but that quieted by 10pm. If sensitive, bring ear plugs.

Lovely simple natural looking flowerbeds which are well maintained and lots of big trees. We loved this campground. Stayed on our way North and again coming South. It is right off of I-81. Gravel roads and sites, but the sites are level. Nice place to walk by the river. Roads & sites are roomy enough for big rigs. Dog park was handy.

Room Tip: The sites on the right side just as you enter the park have the loudest road noise, even though they...

We contacted this campground around 1PM to schedule a reservation for that evening. We explained that we were towing and could not unhook so we would need a pull through site. The young man who took the reservation indicated that would not be a problem. Before I hung up I verified that it was a pull thru and he confirmed. After a very long a tiring day we pulled in, relieved to be off the road only to find that our reservation could not be honored. The lady at the desk said that there were no more pull thru sites left. (There was one empty one and I still wonder if that was our site and the desk clerk was confused) She could not accommodate us. i explained that we specifically reserved a pull thru but she did not seem at all concerned and just told us there was nothing she could do. The general attitude was 'too bad'. We had to get back on the road and find alternate accommodations. Very frustrating to be tired and ready to relax and to have to keep driving. The odd thing is that this exact thing happened to us at this campsite several years ago. At that time, the owner acknowledged their mistake and went out of his way to accommodate us by setting us up for the night in the back field and even took the time to make sure we had electric. Point being, mistakes will happen I guess but the key is that it is important to make it right when they do. The young folks at the desk this time just really didn't care. We will not be back and we recommend that if you are traveling and have a specific need, don't count on them to deliver when you get there.
