Ligonier, its residents, Westmoreland County, something, someone, should have stepped in to keep this alive. This is where many of us met our best friends (I did), our boyfriends/husbands, girlfriends/wives (I know several who did), had friend and family reunions, just so many good times here. I wish it could have been saved. I live all the way in New Alexandria and it was still part of my childhood. We miss you Ligonier Beach.

This place is closed now for good unless someone wants to purchase it and reopen it. Used to be the place for beating the heat.

I was researching places to go around Ligonier, and discovered that the beach has been closed due to pump house problems for at least the 2018 season, perhaps indefinitely.

This is one of the oldest pools in PA it open in 1925. It's huge and sits in the mountains so the water is COLD and refreshing on a hot day. They allow floats and will rent you one if you don't have one. There are chairs and umbrellas placed around the pool for your use. There is a area with sand for the kids. Some weekends they have a band or DJ. They have a snack bar and a bar restaurant. Buffet is offered on weekends or you can order off the menu and there are plenty of drink specials. Food is surprisingly very good for being at a pool and priced reasonable. You can NOT bring your own food or drinks into the pool area. I really like this pool and come here often to swim it is so big you never feel crowded even if everyone would bring a float. It's clean, the owners are making improvements every year. The pool is open 11-7 Everyday. This year it was $8 adult $5 for kids 1-7 age no charge for under 1.

The restrooms/changing areas have been completely redone! Extra stairs were added to the shallow end. Pool is being filled and will be ready to go Memorial Day weekend! Come on out!
