Description: Situated on the Sawkill Creek, in Milford, PA the Waterwheel Café, Bakery & Bar was started in April of 1989 in a restored 19th century water-powered mill, which is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally built in the early 1800's this lively example of American history is now in action and its doors are open to the public. Water rushes over the three-story high water-wheel, driving a series of shafts, gears, pulleys and belts that once powered the stones & grain-milling equipment, all visible through the glass walls of the Café & Bar. Starting at first as a bakery & lunch café the Waterwheel has grown into a full scale restaurant, bakery and bar-serving breakfast & lunch daily with dinners being served Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings. Waterwheel's customers are comfortable in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. The kitchen staff consistently prepares a fresh and flavorful eclectic menu that excites not only the palate, but the eye as well.

We had a quick stop while touring the Delaware Water Gap.

Sandwiches were excellent and the service super friendly.

We also tried the deserts and they were delicious.

Top value for price!

We were in Milford a total of 5 days and ate at this place 4 times! The breakfast and lunch were absolutely delicious - fresh and healthy! Our waitress (the one with a boyfriend that lives near Bethel Woods) was so welcoming every time we came in. She automatically brought us coffee & water after our first morning there and every time we came in for breakfast! You also have to visit the shop upstairs, Denim or Lace! I would sneak up there each time my husband was paying the bill as the shop has so many neat things. It's owner Linda is so very helpful too!

Excellent service (out waiter was Taylor). Eat outside if it's a nice day. A Vietnamese flair from a former, long-term employee. Great coffee.

We arrived for lunch and there was a waiting list. Daily specials continued to disappear from the chalk board was we waited and pastries in the display case evaporated continuously as take away.

There is a reason for this frenzy is simple Excellent food, creative menu offerings, smiling, courteous staff and a no frills environment.

This is an old mill with bare wooden table, utensils wrapped in a napkin, chalk board list of specials and high intensity, quick moving, wait staff.

Good food, nice staff, generous portions and a pastry case to tempt you before you leave. What else do you need?

We stopped in for Sunday breakfast. Smaller venue with eclectic style, right by the water. I believe they would be considered "New Age" because of the naturalness of the food and the different takes on prepared foods. It was not a normal restaurant experience but I don't think its intended to be. Lots of baked products are available. Food was a bit pricey but certainly not outrageous. We did find inconsistent service. The one waitress was great, everywhere at once, even taking care of our table several times. Our waitress was less-so. Nice enough but she should consider another line of work. I got the eggs benedict and it was made with a croissant. Never saw that on a menu before this, it was good. Would we come back? Yes. We'd like to try lunch sometime.
