After being engaged for nearly a year, my wife and I decided to have a getaway for Valentine's Day. We found ourselves at The Cameron Estate Inn B&B for the weekend. While we were there, we took a tour with Dakota and LOVED everything that we saw. Employees were kind and accommodating to all of our needs. Our wedding day was no different! On April 29, 2017, every detail about our wedding went off without a hitch because of their helpful suggestions and detailed wedding planning guide. Any questions we had were answered quickly. After working with Dakota for the planning process, we had Emily as our event coordinator for the entire day. She was always asking us if we needed anything or just to make sure things were going as planned.
On the day of the wedding, so many guests were in love with the location, that many chose to stay the night. We, of course, were there for the night as well in a room with a whirlpool tub. (HIGHLY RECOMMEND!) And with a complementary breakfast, they make you feel right at home.
As for the location itself, the property is beautiful. Our pictures turned out amazing because of the variety of indoor and outdoor scenery they offer. Truly a great place for any time of year. We would highly recommend Cameron Estate.

Room Tip: Get the whirlpool tub, you won't regret it!

We are experienced B&B patrons and our comments are based on our years of experience at staying at B&Bs. When you drive up the driveway the inn looks very majestic. Our expectations were high. It went downhill from the minute we entered through the front door. The front door sticks and needs some elbow grease to open. Not seeing a reception area, another guest told us that registration is at the end of the hallway. After providing our name and signing the credit card receipt, the receptionist gave us instructions where to find our room on the second floor. There was no welcome or greeting, just directions. We looked at our Kwikset key and it had a tag saying that if the key was lost, there would be a $125 replacement charge. Really? We had to carry our suitcases up to the second floor as there was no offer to carry the bags up the stairs. The room #25 was attractive with its antique furniture and fireplaces. When we attempted to hang our clothes in the closet, it was being used as a storage area and had only 3 hangers. We decided to walk the grounds. While somewhat extensive, it was almost devoid of shrubs, flowers or gardens and was basically a giant lawn. My wife found several straight pins on the rug in our room which would indicate it was not vacuumed before our arrival. We had dinner as the inn advertises fine dining. The highlight of our 2-day stay was the dinner. The chef does a superb job. Unfortunately, fine dining did not extend to the servers who were very friendly, but inexperienced. We had to ask for knives to cut our meat and overall they were reactive to requests rather than proactive. We went out for the evening and when we returned there was a lack of parking due to a wedding being held at the inn. We have stayed at many a B&B who held weddings and other events, and the inn guests always had reserved parking. The better B&Bs also tell their guests when reserving a room if a wedding or other event is being held because the ambiance of the B&B changes when such guests are celebrating. The inn offers no sodas, water, or snacks of any kind. When we returned to our room for the evening, it was infested with stink bugs. We lived with them. The morning breakfast seating is between 8-9 AM which is very limited. You have 2 choices to select for breakfast. If you are expecting something elegant, you will be disappointed to find such choices as scrambled eggs and oatmeal. The next day when we returned to our room after visiting many of the sites in the area, we found that our room had not been serviced. Okay, if we can live with the stink bugs, we can live with dirty towels. We asked and were promised that clean towels would be placed in our room while we went out to dinner. When we returned, again there was a lack of parking due to the wedding and the room had no towels. When I went to the back desk to again request the towels, I was handed the towels and told that the Inn could not find the passkey to our room. This likely is why our room was not serviced, but does not excuse the Inn from asking for our room to make a duplicate.

The rooms and building structure are a little tired and could use some tender loving care. We discovered the morning we left that the window air conditioner had at least one inch gaps between the unit and the window which is likely how the stink bugs found their way into our room. The owner needs to stay at other B&B with great reviews and see how a B&B should be operated and immediately make changes.

The Inn has free wi-fi which is a plus, but SO SLOW!!

If you use tissues, be sure to bring your own as the Inn does not provide anything except the room.

When we left, no "thanks", no "hope you enjoyed your stay", no "did we meet your expectations", not even a grunt.

This Inn has so much potential. Unfortunately, the owners either don't know how to welcome guests and make them feel comfortable in the Inn or simply don't care.

They do not greet you when you arrive. They do not thank you for staying when you leave. There's no signage. Always available beverages were not available. When we arrived our room had a space heater. When we turned it off the room temperature dropped rapidly. We questioned this multiple times and were told that the regular heat worked just fine, it just wasn't cold enough to come on...use the space heater. Well that's fine, but not everyone likes to sleep with noise all night. It was in the low 60's in our room for the entire stay, and 55 each morning. For the price we paid, heat would have been expected in the winter.
It may be historic and charming and live up to that claim, but I would seriously recommend thinking twice before booking.

Room Tip: Hideaway is quiet and down a small hallway, but be wary of the heat working if you're staying in...

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review and for your comments regarding the response you received when you asked about the heat. This response was totally unacceptable to us and we have addressed this with the staff member who spoke to you. We apologize for them not rectifying this situation to your satisfaction immediately. Unfortunately, your request was made to one of our newer staff members so they were unsure of how to rectify the situation which is why they recommended the space heater. Again, we apologize for the oversight.

And if our staff failed to say "Thank You" when you left, please allow me to say it now. We appreciate you staying with us and your feedback. We wish you the best and hope to see you again soon.

Sincerely,
Cameron Estate Inn Management Team

We just came back from a 2 day stay at Cameron Estate Inn, First impression looked like we expected. I had called and asked about the rate stay for the 2 days 2 rooms the lady who I spoke to said the rates that were on the web site were the rates for the stay. She told me if I wanted a better rate to check the web for better rates? if I owned a hotel I would not tell someone to go to a web site to a get a better rate. So I did found a rate on Travelocity that saved me over $40.00 a night per room. We checked in Saturday I had made dinner reservations for there over the phone For Easter dinner at 7PM upon check in she tells me I have dinner reservation for Saturday Not Sunday. OK ! So we had dinner there Saturday, She then tells me that she could squeeze us in on Easter Sunday she would give us a special time 0f 6:45 because dinner was full At 7:00 seating. On Sunday we cancelled them As we found somewhere else. We returned to the hotel around 600 pm Went to dining area around 7:15pm just to see how people there were eating there. There are approx. 15 tables in 1 dining room and 10 in a second altogether there were 6 tables being used but they were sold out according to the hotel clerk. Then there was the rooms We walked in our room had the historic look we expected, problem one was the bed it was approximately 3 foot up to the mattress my wife had to ask for a step stool to get in and out of bed. Day 2 didn't clean room just made bed and changed linens in bathroom. Never dumped the trash or cleaned anything else Did not replenish the soaps or shampoo in the bathroom. Mean while the person we traveled with was put in a dormer room on the 3rd floor. It was 80 degrees outside and warmer inside no air Conditioner. The next morning She found bugs all over the tub and shower area. They are doing major construction which started at 6:30 am on Monday Morning on the resort which we had no idea about the sun porch where they were supposed to serve breakfast was gone. We ate in the dining room instead the Windows were covered by boards and no air conditioning. Over all I would rate the stay # out of 10 look before you leap I'm sure there is a lot better places to go and relax! without all the problems we had.

Room Tip: the more expensive ones

Cameron Estate Inn is set back from the road among beautifully mature trees. The grounds were impeccably manicured and inviting. The estate itself made me feel like I was back in a bygone sophisticated era. The interior was just as I imagined and the staff was very hospitable. Our dinner for two, consisted of duck and beef medallions. It was very attractively arranged and was delicious. The atmosphere was peaceful and calm with soft music playing in the background. I highly recommend Cameron Estate Inn if you want a fine dining experience.

The only thing good about our 1 night stay was the service at dinner. The food was BAD!
I purchased the "long stem roses" and they were NOT long stems and they were in very poor condition. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with them it was shrugged off and nothing was done. I also ordered the bottle of wine that was to be chilled and in the room at arrival. It was there, however it wasn't chilled and there were no glasses in the room. When I requested glasses, we got them after a second request an hour later,
This was not a good experience for $350.
And don't expect any type of itemized receipt. When I requested one I was told "oh honey you must be used to staying in hotels. We don't do that here."
My suggestion would be to look elsewhere as the food the service and the goods purchased will not be as portrayed on the website!

Jim

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review and for your compliment about the service during dinner. We take each guest comment seriously and always welcome constructive feedback on how we can improve. As with most restaurants and bed and breakfasts, Valentine's Day is very busy and very hectic. It seems we missed the mark on getting your wine order correct and we apologize for the mix up. The roses you received are the standard long-stem roses available to every florist so I'm not sure why you thought they were not up to standard. If you check your reservation confirmation you will find an itemized receipt for your room and any extras you added to your stay. If you need an additional itemized receipt we would be happy to provide one. Oh, and our housekeeping staff was happy to assist you in finding the diamond ring your wife lost during her stay. They were happy to see her reunited with it.

Thank you again for staying with us, we appreciate your feedback and we wish you the best.

Sincerely,
Cameron Estate Inn Management Team
