We had an amazing culinary experiece tonight at Majolica. We were welcomed with a lovely amuse boushe. Our first courses were epic. Soft shell crab BLT, Scallops with an apricot jam, Fresh plump oysters with a mignonette and a lovely beet and burrata salad. We shared everything. Then they gave us a pallete cleanser of melon sorbet with cinnamon sauce. A perfect touch. Mains were intensely flavorful and gorgeously plated. A rich tender short rib, a crisp pork porchetta, a quinoa risotto and amazing duck. Again we shared everything. Capped evening off with three deserts all of which were delicious. Our new favorite. We will be back.

This is a restaurant I’ve heard good things about and may be more suited to those who like frog legs, octopus, squid or sweetbreads.

Reservations are recommended- the restaurant is small and there’s a limited number of tables. And it’s a BYOB.

AppetIzers sampled were grilled scallops and a cheese board. At the time we were there, there were a couple selections of Spanish cheeses and a third. lt seems before they have used a local artisan cheese maker who has very good cheese selections.

Inasmuch as I was not really fond of the entree selection choices (very limited), I ordered another appetizer which was a radicchio salad with additions and a gorgonzola dressing, and caramelized brussel sprouts. Both were decent.

It seems the restaurant has been in Phoenixville for what we were told, about 13 years with the same chef/owner(?). They only are open Wed to Sunday, for dinner.

Waitstaff was attentive and food was attractively presented. Entrees are in the mid-$20s price range.

We could tell there were repeat customers but for me, it’s not my type. Despite the online description being American cuisine or new- American cuisine, it’s not my cuisine.

I’m glad to try something new but just know that this is not your typical beef, chicken or seafood place. That concept, in and of itself, my be just what the exotic diner is looking for.

One of the best meals we’ve had for quite a while, and certainly as goo£ as anything we’ve eaten in Philly.
Oysters, octopus, squid, all top notch and imaginatively cooked and presented. Preceded by a succession of ‘on the house’ canapés of impressive quality, all washed down by wonderful service and ‘bring your own’ wine.

We went here for a special occasion and decided to try the 6 course tasting menu. We thought the sunchoke soup, fried polenta, grilled octopus, and duck cassoulet were outstanding! The earl grey ice cream dessert with shortbread cookies was very good. The radicchio salad was good but not a favorite. We brought our own wine, which was nice to be able to do. Our thoughts regarding the tasting menu were that the courses were smaller than we expected but it was delicious and worth trying one time. When we return, we will choose from the regular menu.

Our first visit, and assuredly not our last. The staff were friendly & welcoming right from the start. Food was outstanding: sweetbreads, scallops with pork belly, duck cassoulet, and possibly the best ever short ribs. Every dish showed great attention to detail, and a wonderful blending of flavors. Service was attentive without being cloying. AND it's a BYOB! We will definitely return!
