I try to scan through reviews here on TA to see the good and not so good about places that are rated since experiences can be so subjective. We stayed here at the same time as a youth hockey team was also there so that colored our experience. Gonna list pros/cons here:
Pros -Hotel is in a GREAT location if you want to attend outdoor sporting events in Pittsburgh. You could just about spit on the stadium where the Pirates play and Heinz Field was maybe an 8 minute walk away -Lots of restaurants nearby, note that most of them are pub type food or burgers. If you want a little more variety, walk about 15 minutes to Federal Galley where there are 4 "pop up" style eateries in one place -Quick access from the highways and multiple bridges, as well as the riverfront trails area -Front desk was polite and professional with others (as I observed) as well as with me. The young lady tried very hard to work with my request for a room away from the sports group -Rooms were surprisingly quieter than expected given the location right next to a highway and sports venue
Cons -There's some noise due to the location of course, so if you're sensitive to that it may not be the best place to stay -The room had a musty smell, not sure if there was water somewhere -The light placement in the bathroom is really weird such that the top of the door would block it, though this was a minor inconvenience -The proximity to restaurants and sports locales may not appeal to folks who are looking for a less "lively" area of town. The Pirates played both nights we were there so restaurant waits were quite moderate and there was considerable foot traffic outside the hotel -Breakfast was meh (I understand COVID has limited things) with bagels, yogurt, apples and french toast sticks. My mother has dietary restrictions that didn't allow her to eat anything that was available for breakfast and they couldn't recommend any places nearby other than the grocery store. They were apologetic about this, but just a note for future guests.
The single biggest detractor at this hotel for me is that there were kids running amok all over the ENTIRE lobby. Not just one section either - they were literally swinging on the luggage carts like the USA gymnasts in the vestibule, in the breakfast area practicing hockey skills with sticks and a plastic ball, outside in the entrance to the parking area (again with hockey sticks, so potential damage to property etc), interrupting my check-in at the front desk to ask for things etc. As a mom who was traveling with my own child, I found all of this completely unacceptable. Obviously their parents weren't gonna parent them, but some of the activities were dangerous like playing in the parking lot as cars were entering and exiting and front desk staff or the manager should really have stepped in. I suppose they might if someone were to become injured and file a lawsuit, though I hope it doesn't come to that. My suggestion would be for them to advise groups with youth to supervise and be responsible for their kids. I can't imagine the insurance and liability entanglement if they don't. I will likely not stay at this property again due to this experience (apparently they have sports groups regularly), and I will absolutely be inquiring at other hotels in the area if they have large group bookings of this type prior to reserving.
Be advised that parking is $22/night with in and out privileges for hotel guests only. It's free if you're Globalist and book a room using points though.

Overall good experience. The hotel was clean. The front desk staff was very friendly. Nice fire pit area. Good access to restaurants, ball fields, casino and science center. I would recommend and stay there again.

We've been here before and had a good experience. This time our room smelled strongly like weed. It lessened as we were in there so we decided to stick it out. But when we left and came back it was there again very strong. I feel the staff should have been aware of this as the cleaning staff could not have missed the smell. Unfortunately, this was a special occasion visit - our 35th anniversary - and it was less enjoyable due to the smell than it might have been.

I travel the country extensively. The bathroom in my room at this particular Hyatt was less than pleasing. The tile around the shower and tub was broken and cracked with caulking peeling or missing all together. There was layers of soap scum, cracked grout and disgusting mold and mildew all around the tub. Not what was expected for a hotel with the rating this one has.

The room that I reserved was not available when we arrived to check in and not the friendliest of front desk staff. The bathroom shower was not clean (quite a few hairs on the shower floor). General condition of hotel was worn down.
