As a native of Eastern PA, it was a great place to learn about the other side of my state. I especially enjoyed the sports areas, and the Heinz 57 exhibit. Six floors of history is a lot to take in and it is not an expensive admission and less for seniors and AAA. Parking is a half a block away. The neighborhood collection has the Mister Rogers exhibit as you enter the area. Other areas to see are the glass making, the slavery to Freedom is worth your time as is the innovation section dealing with Pittsburgh's many contributions and firsts. I liked the Lewis and Clark timeline as well.

Mr. Rogers set and Heinz 57 and local sports history are some really great exhibits. It's a great way to know the history of the area. Small fee parking across the street. Good price on entrance fee.

Great museum featuring the region’s history. Includes immigrants, Sports, business and more. It even has one of the old trolley cars that provided public transportation. Very, very interesting and worth a visit.

We spent all day here and still didn't see everything. But we really enjoyed the exhibitions that we did have time for. Favorites included the new exhibit on the Heinz company, the collection of carpenter's planes, glassmaking in western PA, and the history of innovation in Pennsylvania. There's lots of stuff for kids as well as adults scattered throughout. My advice is to carefully consider all of the current exhibitions when you arrive, and then prioritize your time according to your personal interests. Before you start, be sure to take a few minutes to read about the history of this amazing building (look for the signboard in an alcove near the first-floor elevator); it's amazing how the building functioned when it was an ice warehouse, with trains coming through on the ground floor and horses stabled on the fourth floor! There is a cafe onsite with lots of drinks and some pre-made sandwiches and salads if you need a break.
