The Frick Art is more than an art museum. The admission to the Frick grounds, Car and Carriage Museum, Greenhouse, and permanent collection is free.Special exhibits and Clayton House require paid admission.
This Frick Art has reciprocity with NARM and ROAM, which allow free admission to the special exhibit and to the Clayton House. Visited Pittsburgh during the summer withtthe purpose to see the special Impressionist Exhibit. There were quality paintings and some were unusual pieces from well known impressionist artists. There are also very nice paintings from the permanent collection. The Car & Carriage Museum had a diverse collection of cars and carriages in great condition. The tour of the Clayton House was very well done with a knowledgeable docent. It was very nice to see the Frick family's furnishings and learn about their lives in that home. The grounds were well kept. There is also a Cafe in the complex.

The trip to Pittsburgh was well worth it. The Frick Art and Historical Center was much more that we expected. Highly recommend to those who loves art and history.

We haven't been here in years. It has greatly expanded.
We visited during something called RADevents, which meant free days. In fact, the museum and car display are always free (as is parking). For the event the first floor of Clayton house was open for self guided tours. The docents in each room were very informative. The event also included many activities for children. The greenhouse was ope. Unfortunately, only a very limited number of rooms of the art museum were open.
The display of carriages and early cars was well done. There was a special exhibit on the automobile and the women's rights movement. It was well done.

We visited this house/auto museum/cafe/park on a Tuesday afternoon. Granted, it was rainy but their were very few visitors. Our party of three got into the house (only part you pay for) for total of right under 40 dollars. It was an hour tour and worth the money. The docent was very knowledgeable and you could tell that the house was lovingly cared for (no touching or leaning; the docent wore white gloves). Very interesting tour! Just be careful, it is dark and hard to see. They were in the midst of preservation in the front of the house, which is the main reason for a rating of 4. This house includes an amazing number of Frick owned items!

There is a nice small conservatory to wander through and a small but nice period buggy/car collection. The darling cafe with in and outside seating had white table cloths and serves high tea at specific times. The cafe has limited hours. We did not get to the park in the rain, but understand it’s very nice! A great piece of Pittsburgh history lives on here!

This café is so nice we went for afternoon tea. You have a nice variety of tea, sandwiches, and dessert. I certainly would recommend this restaurant for a nice afternoon with family and friends.

History of carriages and cars as purchased by the Frick family was very enlightening. Did you know that in the early 1900’s 38 per cent of all cars were electric!!!

Well worth your time.

Also ... it’s free!!!
