We like staying at Hampton Inn hotels, so I was pleased to find a nice Hampton Inn in downtown Pittsburgh. We even splurged on a suite which is an extra-large room with kitchenette. We always request "Quiet room away from interstate noise, elevator, ice machine, pls", and that request is usually honored. We arrived a little early and patiently watched TV in the lobby while rooms were being prepared. But surprise -- when we arrived in our suite, we found ourselves next to the interstate. We should have requested a change, but we were tired, and so many reviewers had stated that noise was no problem that we just hoped that would be true. It's NOT.
The rooms next to the interstate are Very NOISY. I regret that I booked two sleepless nights (should have just booked a regular king room or just stayed outside the downtown area). The suites are located on each end of the building -- I'm sure a suite on the other end of the building would have been better.
Otherwise, the hotel is nice, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. All staff were friendly and professional. James went out of his way to help with printing tour tickets -- thank you!
