Overall, the room was clean, save for the stray hairs that were on the bathroom floor. The bed was VERY comfortable and I got a really good night's sleep. I wish that the pillows were bigger (they were the size of large throw-pillows); the bath towels could have been bigger as well. One potential hygiene issue is that the sink is outside the bathroom, which raises the potential for germs to be placed on the inside bathroom door handle.
Complimentary breakfast and wi-fi are a big plus for travelers; I would stay here again.

If you're traveling to State College for any big event (especially football), you should know that reservations are a must. We book hotels 1 year in advance from the football game we're attending. Each year, the prices throughout town go through the roof. This year was no exception.

Here are the positives: The staff is very nice. They offer a small snack/breakfast. They are full of school spirit. The housekeeping staff is very friendly and caring.

Here are some things people are often confused about: This hotel is NOT in the "downtown" area. It is NOT a nice walk to the campus. Public Transportation is NOT readily available nor easy to find or use. Your own car or taxis are your best bet if staying at this hotel.

Here is the biggest disappointment/the biggest CON: It was $484 + tax per room per night. I'm sorry this isn't even in the heart of the town nor is it the Waldorf Astoria. This is a motel. Motels should never cost near $500 at any time, even on the rocky cliffs of some beautiful beach scene. I've stayed at hotels closer to the downtown, school, and stadiums before for less. much less. And the building was much nicer. The service is great, don't get me wrong, the people are gems! The prices, however, are frighting. (And you know that it is only that steep because of whatever event is happening, but I will not pay that ever again).

My recent stay at the Sleep Inn in State College exceeded my expectations. On a busy football weekend the staff was fantastic. They assisted in a transportation problem I was having and turned it into a positive experience. Great to know that people still care about your stay. The hotel is clean, comfortable and conveniently located. This is a great value and the staff is second to none. Anyone traveling to State College needs to check this Hotel out.

We stayed here to save a few bucks (to spend on tickets to the Seinfeld show -- which was GREAT!), and many 3-, 4- and 5- star ratings the hotel received from others. Big mistake. There are some okay things about the hotel, but the most important thing -- the rooms themselves -- are definitely NOT one of them. Where do I begin? The sink in our room was located outside the bathroom, right next to one of the beds. Have to get up in the middle of the night for a glass of water? Be prepared to wake everyone else in the room up while you're at it. The shower door has a clear glass door on it, not a curtain or translucent glass. So anyone who needs to go #1 while you're in the shower gets an up-close-and-personal view of you in the shower, and vice-versa. Sitting on the toilet you also get a great view of some sort of moldy crud that's below the shower door. Then there are the large cracks all around the door to the hallway -- including a 1" gap between the bottom of the door and the floor. All the better to hear every hallway conversation, and enjoy every door opening and slamming shut. Cheap, thin towels about the right size for an eight year-old child. A fan in the toilet/shower room that is truly as loud as the engine on a prop plane. The staff was nice, friendly and helpful. We've yet to sample the breakfast -- which is continental, not hot as I was led to believe it would be -- but what's the last time a continental breakfast made you recommend a hotel to someone? These rooms might be okay for a single person to stay a night or two, but bring my family here again? No way. And the location is pretty convenient to the college. But there are other, better hotels close by -- like the Comfort Suites right next door. Spend a few bucks more and stay there. You'll be glad you did.

Room Tip: Go to a a different hotel.

As Penn State Alumni we travel back as often as we can. We were able to get a reservation here on a busy graduation weekend, the price was affordable, they had a nice breakfast in the morning and extremely friendly service. The rooms are very nice, newly remodeled and modern looking. We would definitely reserve a room here again.

This the best place to stay when it comes to value with clean rooms. Only downside is no pool.

My husband and our nephew came up to go to Penn State and stayed over for one night. The staff was very nice, friendly, and helpful. The room was very nice, clean with plenty of towels, a refrig, safe, microwave and flat screen tv. Really nice for newly renovations to this hotel. Would definitely stay there again.
