The Arboretum is clearly well tended. All the plants/flowers are beautiful. Each place you look is more beautiful than the one before. Lovely place to stroll & enjoy your surroundings. Nice cottontails not very afraid. Children should enjoy as well.

The arboretum is a well designed series of trails featuring a variety of flowers and foliage. There is helpful and informative signage telling about local geological and botanical features. A nice kids area features playable chimes, a kaleidoscope, and a man made cave. An activity house was there, but closed on a busy Saturday.

Open spaces with features like a large sundial make for pleasant places to sit, or study for the lucky law students located adjacent to the gardens.

Many things are different seasonally, but at any time of year you are likely to run into people taking wedding photos, engagement photos, graduation photos, or family photos who quite obviously are annoyed with those simply trying to enjoy the beautiful landscape.

When visiting the Penn State area, I make it a point to go to the Arboretum. I have visited almost every year from the opening in 2009, and it is a treat to see how the plantings have matured and to see the new areas that have opened. The plant material is appropriately varied and is well tended. The Children’s area is a small part of the facility, but it offers much for youngsters to discover and explore the natural world. I miss seeing shade and specimen trees, but these will be installed in future phases; absent these (and using sunscreen and carrying water) this is still a worthwhile place to visit.

Very well designed and kids are always excited, nice that it is for free, I guess as to compensate for all the developing, land grabbing and social damage this university does.

This place is truly special. A beautiful stroll through a variety of gardens and plantings is a sensory delight in every season. The children's garden is lovely, too, with things to explore, climb, pump, soak, investigate... And there is no charge to visit. Take a walk from the Arboretum to the Penn State Creamery to get a treat, then stroll through the gardens again. You won't regret the visit.
