This restaurant is nestled right on the bank of the Susquehanna River with an awesome view of the capital city of Harrisburg. The location alone makes it worth the trip to eat here, but once you are here, you will find out why it is so popular. It has plenty of room for lots of people and has an expansive menu that will make you wish you had more time to pore over it. The food comes in hearty portions and so attractively arranged that it seems a shame to eat it.
The French Onion Gratinee was a meal in itself! It was quite true to what we enjoyed in France, complete with cheese on top and bread underneath. The bowl of chili was generous and filling, and served with two pieces of garlic bread.
The Philadelphia Cheesesteak was average in taste, and for an extra $1.50, we got a massive order of french fries to accompany it. The Tuscan Turkey Sandwich was good and made with yummy surprises, such as zucchini and spinach. The side of red-skinned potato salad was tasty, as well.
You won't leave hungry. Drinks and desserts are offered too, but we did not partake of those. Our server was quite attentive and pleasant. There are TV screens about the place, but they are not loud and obnoxious. There is on-street and off-street parking, but the drivers along South Front Street don't seem to be capable or willing to stop for pedestrians, so you are taking your life in your hands when you cross the street from the parking lots, which you have to do.
We have enjoyed eating here each time we have made the half hour trip from our house. When the weather is nice, you can dine outside on the deck. I can understand the popularity of this establishment.
