We just returned from a week at Hunting Island State park in South Carolina. We had a great time & the scenery is quite beautiful. The campsites are nice & large & can be quite private depending on which lot you get. There is a camp store with necessities & souvenirs. The bathrooms could use an upgrade. There are only 3 toilets & 2 showers per unit but all sites have water hook up so the lines were never too long. The staff was friendly & helpful. Quite a bit of wildlife. Very tame deer wandering around looking & raccoon & turtles. The beach was large & clean. Had some great waves for boogey-boarding. Lots of seashells but didn't see any sand dollars. A few must-haves: Bug spray(mosquitoes & no see um's), air conditioner & fans (HOT!), wagon (transporting things to beach) & beach umbrella(again, HOT!). Beaufort is a good 20 miles away so stock up before going. Good day trips were Savannah & Charleston. Definitely climb the lighthouse & go to nature center.
Overall a great expirence to see the South & camp amoung the Palm tree's.
