Owner description: A Little Bit of Country... A Whole Lot of Fun! And everything's about apples! We offer a bakery and pie factory where our famous pies and breads are made right before your eyes - everyday! A fun, whimsical area awaits you where you'll feel 'like a kid in a candy shop' again! Our apple cider brewery offers FREE cider sampling and a wonderful selection of bottled apple-icious cider blends. Outside (weather permitting), you'll find Mr.Applehead, an observatory - and the world's largest apple-shaped structure, in which you can ascend inside to discover breath-taking vistas of surrounding countryside. Not your typical tourist trap at least it has good food to sell. All the Apple based stuff we tried was good, but seriously overpriced. You are paying for the prime location and the ability to see workers in action in the bakery. The animal frame is a nice touch, but all this does not justify paying $6 for a loaf of Apple bread or $15 for a custard Apple pie. I still ran it high because the pie was great. The bread was just ok. The Apple cheese twists were my favourite, and my kids loved the churros.

Hello and thank you for your recent visit and review! We are pleased you enjoyed the pies, sticks and churros you purchased. We're sorry you found us a bit pricey but we are very conveniently located just off the 401 and only takes a minute or two to get to us. Thank you for recognizing that we are 'not your typical tourist trap' as we try to offer a welcoming ambiance with something for everyone, at all ages. Our famous apple bread is only $3.99 a loaf - the $5.99 loaf is our mumble crumble bread and is almost twice the size. We hope you will visit us again soon - have a lovely day!

It's an unmistakable landmark that I always thought was a useless tourist trap. But I was wrong. To my surprise, going up the apple was free. So was the mini golf. And the petting zoo. And the train ride. Free?! Not a typical tourist trap. Yes, you CAN spend money on pies and trinkets if you want to. And I think the prices are fair. So, when the kids beg to stop at the BIG Apple, do everyone a favour and do it. It really IS worth it--especially for those with younger children.

Thank Ron J

Hello and thank you for your recent visit and fine review! We are sorry the apple observatory (Mr. Applehead) was closed when you visited. The spiral staircase is metal and gets very slippery if it has recently rained, so we close it for safety purposes. Once the snow/ice falls, Mr. Applehead is closed for the season. We hope you'll be able to visit again, when the weather is nicer, and the observatory and all the other FREE outdoor activities will be up and running again. Have a lovely day!

Best apple pie ever, and I don't even like apples that much. The petting zoo was a bit disappointing, small and can't really pet the animals, but a very nice place to take your kids

Since our daughter goes to Ottawa U, we've made a tradition to stop at this place. Partly to cut our trip from Mississauga but mostly to indulge in so many goodies. First stop candies, then baked goods. (Not a fan of the wines, too sweet for me - I know - ironic.) The place is always clean and the staff friendly.
We like to walk around in the warmer weather to check out the animals, especially the 'wild rabbits'. (Although we didn't see the bunnies last time.)
There are also other stuff to do there, great for families with small kids.)

Dear Anne - thank you for your continued loyalty and awesome review! We are most pleased that you us to be delicious, clean, friendly and entertaining. The bunnies come and go throughout the year - likely they were in the back eating our little garden back there! We are thrilled your stops are a new tradition for you and your family, and look forward to your next stop - have a wonderful day!
