Go here to see the best view of the river. Check out the historic church and see where they harvest the honey they sell and go inside to see the pews, each with its own entry door.

Unfortunately closed when we pulled up in the late afternoon but gorgeous old wooden church with immaculate grounds located by the river.

We find a very delightful docent today at the Church of the Cross, and we learn that she was courted by a gentleman of French descent, who advised her that his French name meant Wild Horses (a romantic story.)

The Church of the Cross has a rather unique columbarium.

The Church of the Cross has a Saturday night informal service, a Sunday 8:00AM “aerobics” service with standing and kneeling (which we prefer.)

However, it is the Sunday 10:00AM service which we choose to attend. We take care to ask about which pew, and while the docent is ecumenical, we will ask again on Sunday morning.

We didn't go inside but the place is beautiful and its right on the May River. You can go down on the dock and watch the local boating in the river

This church is gorgeous and most of the original church is preserved. We do wish we could have seen the inside, however it was nice to see the outside as well as the view and all the outside texture. I’d recommend seeing this as well.

Thank Joann K
