The Barksdale House Inn is tucked into the middle of everything to do in Charleston. You can get to just about every historic site on foot from here. The room we had was very large, comfortable, and full of history. the breakfasts and afternoon treats were delicious. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. A complete delight!!

We stayed one night at the Barksdale In, on the 3 Rd floor. Lovely room, clean and quaint. Breakfast was lovely in the sun room. Afternoon snacks, wine and sweet tea. Locations is great, close to everything. We didn't move the car until we left for the airport..another bonus included parking!

The staff was lovely and very helpful! Let us come in early and leave the car for a few hours after check out. We will definitely stay here again on future trips!

Conveniently located and reasonably priced. Free and safe parking. Very nice continental breakfast and snacks. Not the best furnishings, but the bed was comfy (small TV). Very clean. Excellent staff (Thanks Taylor!) Would definitely stay again for a short visit to this fabulous city.

Room tip: Carriage House was fine.

A good reasonably priced choice in an excellent location right in the heart of historic downtown Charleston. I note the comments of some previous reviews regarding interior decoration and facilities, however for the price charged this seemed like an excellent deal to us. If you do want high end accommodation with all the facilities then there are plenty of other choices available in downtown Charleston at twice the price and upwards. The Inn is well run by a team of young and enthusiastic staff who were very helpful and friendly. Free guest parking is included directly behind the main building which is great considering the town centre location.
Breakfast was excellent, with a varied choice everyday, complimentary cakes cookies and nibbles were available all day and wine and crudités were put out each evening. Yes, the outdoor courtyard could do with a little tidying, but nevertheless Barksdale house offers clean, simple but very tidy B&B style rooms in an unmatched location. All at a very fair price, which is a rarity in what is a very expensive area for accommodation. Well done and thank you to Tyler and the team at the Barksdale house.

Although the staff at the Barksdale house was very nice and welcoming the room was lacking in so many ways. When we arrived the toilet paper roll was empty, there were no tissues in the bathroom, the towels were thin and chintzy. We were unable to draw the drapes at night to block out the lights from the traffic. I felt like I was staying in a frat house room for the night. My husband and I are bed and breakfast connoisseurs and understand the little things that in keepers can do to make customers feel welcome. This In is sorely lacking in comfort amenities. We will not be back. Breakfast was very limited and the broccoli Frittada/ quiche was cold.
I don’t recommend this inn.
