Larry and I spent part of our vacation in Charleston. My favorite city, by the way. We decided, because our stay was so perfect, to stay again at the Wentworth. We were not disappointed. Last time we stayed in room 17. This time, because of the reviews, we chose room 13. I don't know if we are biased, but we will ask for room 17 again. Not because it wasn't awesome, just maybe sentimental value. This mansion does not fail to please. We will make this our choice when visiting Charleston. We ate at Circa as well. Lovely, wonderful place. The staff at the Wentworth is the best. I await this to be chosen the number one place in Charleston.

Room Tip: We have stayed in both 13 and 17. Either one was most appealing. I am sure, whichever room is chosen...

I agree with those who have posted the highest accolades for the Wentworth Mansion. We rate this the finest hotel at which we have ever stayed. Everything was perfect. Everything.

We stayed in Room #14, a very large room on the 3rd floor. The room was perfect. There were windows across from each other, a real novelty. There was a very nice gas fireplace, both warming and romantic. There was a sitting room off of the bedroom with chairs and a TV. The very large bathroom featured a marble floor, a large whirlpool tub, and a large shower with shower heads at both ends.

Because this weekend was a special occasion, the hotel suprised us the first evening with a fire in the fireplace awaiting our return PLUS candles on the mantel and a chilled bottle of champagne.

The little touches were extraordinary. Wine and hors d'oeuvres each afternoon, cognac available all day, cold sodas and water all day in the room, truffles in the evening, and a complementary full breakfast at the Circa 1886 Restaurant.

The staff at the hotel and the restaurant were superb and very courteous. Due to the popularity of the restaurant, evening parking is very limited. The hotel staff met us at the car, then took the car to an offsite lot. Later in the evening, they returned the car to their lot and held the keys at the desk.

The Wentworth Mansion is an absolute must!

Room Tip: Room 14 has windows on two opposite sides of the room. Wonderful lighting and views.

Magnificent Southern charm in a stunning setting. The hotel was the 1800's mansion of Charleston's cotton king. The service was only exceeded by the accomodations. We had a fireplace in the bedroom as well as the bathroom! Breakfast was included in the daily rate (a little pricey, but worth it) right across the yard in Circa 1886 (a 5star restaurant). Every day at 5pm they serve complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres on the sun porch - a very classy touch. The concierge was extremely helpful as well.
All in all, a fabulous time.

This was our second time staying and we loved it as much as we did the first time. The Mansion is just gorgeous and loaded with charm. The staff is very friendly and courteous and the food is excellent. Free and ample parking with easy access to your vehicle is a huge plus. If you are looking for a great place to relax and unwind, this is it!

Room Tip: ask for the top floor! Views of the city are gorgeous.

From my initial phone conversations arranging for our stay to our departure, this amazing staff never failed in helpfulness and friendliness. Maybe one of the best staffs I've encountered in many years our upscale travel!

Upon arrival we were met in the parking area by a valet who greeted us by name and took over baggage handling. The mansion is visually stunning, both inside and out, and was the perfect way to experience Charleston for the first time. We arrived Saturday for the New Year's Eve celebration and left four days later determined to return.

Our suite was #13 on the 2nd floor. Huge, comfortable, marble fireplace, sitting area, window alcove large enough for sleeping and a favorite reading/napping place for my hubby. Beautiful, very large bathroom with jacuzzi tub and large separate shower with dual shower heads which made for a lingering shower. There were a couple of minor maintenance issues: bedside table drawers which would fall out if not careful in opening, not as well dusted as it could have been, and one drapery which was coming loose at the top. However, for us, these were minor issues and things that can be easily adjusted. We never complained of any of this, so the staff had no chance to adjust for us.

One of the nicer touches was the free soft drinks and bottles waters that were replenished daily in the mini fridge located in the wardrobe. We also enjoyed the cocktail hour with very nice wines and appetizers offered daily beginning at 5 PM. The complimentary breakfast at Circa 1886, the onsite highly regarded restaurant, was a great way to start the day offering a variety of choices for any appetite. Their sauteed shrimp and grits entree was a favorite and the delicious assorted pastries were a challenge for anyone to pass up.

We were fortunate to have booked the New Year's Eve package and dined at Circa 1886 that evening. The service, ambiance, delicious food, dining with Charleston elites and great spacing of tables made for a memorable New Year's Eve feast/celebration topped off with a chilled bottle of champagne waiting in our room when we returned.

The location, in the historic district, was perfectly sited for us. We enjoyed our walks to King Street and the Market area. For those not used to walking or with health issues, it might be a bit of a stretch, but we loved taking various routes to and from the Mansion discovering new things to photograph each time and working of a few of the calories from all the delicious food.

While no place is perfect, if you want a place that seems so quintessential Charleston this is the place for you. Much more than a B&B, but far more intimate and personal than a hotel, it was exactly what we were looking for. The public areas are stunning featuring Tiffany windows, exquisite wood workings, antiques, etc. I really can't say enough about this amazing find.

Room Tip: # 13 is very large and beautifully appointed. On the 2nd floor and very quiet.

My husband and I like to visit the finer places, and we were 100% satisfied with our decision with Wentworth Mansion. This beautiful Historical Hotel knows how to please..such attention to detail, friendly service, amazing food, and a beautiful old historic mansion make for a true 5 star experiance! We fell in love with the city, and it's many charms and we hope to come back to Wentworth Mansion again sometime soon...
