We had been to this Hotel in 2011 and loved it! When we decided to come back this summer, I booked it again. To my delight, the hotel was still amazing. The staff was warm and welcoming and clearly anxious to make your stay pleasant. From the doormen who greeted you to the reception area, there was always a smile and willingness to help. The hotel is beautiful. The Lobby is very well done with unusual and beautiful touches. Stunning lamps and furniture and unique accents and artwork make the hotel look more like a sophisticated home than a chain hotel. The rooms were large, clean and well appointed and the bathroom was super spacious and contemporary. The beds were extremly comfortable and had very pretty linen. The hotel is in an incredible location, walking distance to everything you want to see with great access to shopping and restaurants.

A special thank you to Evan Ashley and Michael for their world class customer service. This was an outstanding trip for us largely because our accommodations were so wonderful. You definitely want to stay here in your next visit to Charleston.

This hotel is in a great location. We were able to walk everywhere! The pool was small but great to relax in after a long day of walking. The hotel staff was so helpful and gave great recommendations.

The hotel itself is beautiful. A great location in the heart of Charleston. My wife and I could pretty much walk to all the sights and locations you’d want to visit.

Rooms are nice and the service was impeccable.

All the doormen at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. I’d like to specifically mention Mike from Brooklyn. He was amazing. Always giving us tips on what to do and where to go. He really added to our experience in Charleston!

We would highly recommend the hotel to anyone traveling to the beautiful city!

I checked out from the hotel today; we had a generally positive experience and will likely stay here again, but there were some quirks.

First, the pros. The hotel is very well-located. It’s a quick walk to the great restaurants on Bay Street as well as the South of Broad area; it’s positioned right next to the shopping on King Street. The hotel’s decor also has a fun vibe. The free breakfast buffet offered to Bonvoy Platinum guests was solid, if basic. Scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, grits (didn’t see ant biscuits though?), breads, fruit, and coffee/tea.

There were some matters that were less than ideal. I never raised them with staff (I didn’t view them as that significant), but they nonetheless detracted from the experience. First, we had requested a room with a bathtub (most rooms are shower-only); the hotel assigned us to a queen bed room with bathtub.

When we arrived to check in around 3:30pm, the room was unavailable; we had to wait until about 4:30 or so. I was hoping the front desk staff might upgrade us to a suite (even without a bathtub) or offer some Bonvoy points in compensation, but he only offered to move us to a standard room without a bathtub. So, we waited. Offering points would have been a nice gesture (I’m a Bonvoy Platinum, for whatever that’s worth).

When we got to the room, it was smaller than expected, and seemed to be a full size rather than a queen bed. I didn’t break out a tape measure, but we have a full size at home. Not a huge thing, but would have been nice to have an accurate description.

Additionally, housekeeping didn’t replenish the in-room coffee before the last night of the stay, and oddly removed the bath mat from the bathroom. The hotel did bring up extra coffee and coffee cups upon request.

All in all, the stay was generally good, and cleaning up these minor issues would produce a five-star rating.

Room tip: Rooms with bathtubs are available upon request.
