We arrived in a driving rainstorm! The waiter greeted us at the door and then beckoned us to a high top table with seating for us and four others. Shortly, two other separate couples joined us. Everyone was smiling, especially the waiter, who quickly took our order for the special lunch -- croque monsieur sandwich with a cup of homemade lentil soup -- and delivered glasses of lovely wine. Everyone was friendly, the food arrived quickly, and the price was very reasonable. It was like a little trip to France just for an hour!

We went there for both a late dinner and breakfast, and the food was simply delicious. We had the vichyssoise, beef fondue with salad, chicken provencal, croque monsieur, croissants, and red wine, and everything hit the spot. Our wait staff was lovely on both occasions. The vibe was also laid back and charming. Absolutely loved this place.

Popped into this local cute cafe for casual breakfast on a Saturday. Great french press coffee. Amazing baguette. Nancy our server was lovely.

Late Saturday afternoon we waltzed into Gaulart & Maliclet for sustenance. Good choice. My wife loves soup and had the fish chowder along with the smoked salmon and cream cheese. I chose the cold cucumber soup with the half croq baguette with ham and cheese. Very yummy. My glass of house white was refreshing after a hot day walking around in downtown Charleston. Just what the doctor ordered. Highly recommended; we will be back.

Good place to go if you are close by. The food was good, but the service could be improved. The owner/manager was not welcoming and almost scoffed at my questions regarding gluten-free options. We did eat there twice because it was so convenient to our lodging. Give it a try for the food, but don't expect Southern hospitality.
