Embassy Suites by Hilton Charleston - Historic Charleston
Ranked #44 of 62 Hotels in Charleston

The hotel needs to be refurshbish, the lobby area shows well however the suites have old furniture and poor lighting in the bedrooms, The room I occupied had cracks in the walls, living rm and bathroom. The vent was disgusting dirty, the room felt uncleaned. The breakfast area is small and the omellete was greasy, which took 15 mins to receive. The set up was crumsy, folks were crowded around the grill area waiting for their omelletes. The 2nd day, the patio area had a buffet area set up which relieve alot of the bottleneck. I was very disappointed with amenities and the room. There are other properties nearby to the marketplace that are optional for my next trip.

Room Tip: I had a room facing a brick bldg.

The hotel is the old location of the Citadel (Military College of South Carolina) and I have stayed there twice over the past three years. Each stay was good. The overall ambiance is that of an Embassy Suites property; however, almost everything is done in a way that's different from other Embassy Suites hotels. The breakfast/restaurant area is a rather small room to the side of the lobby. The reception area (drinks/snacks) is a rather small bar area just inside the main door, The rooms are a bit small for an Embassy Suites hotel and are somewhat dark (very few windows). Would I stay here again? The answer is a definite yes.

It's pretty hard to find a decent, well priced hotel in Charleston. The Embassy Suites is nice with a beautiful entryway. I'm not a huge fan of Embassy Suites because I think they are old, but this was a pretty good place to stay. The location was good, although a tad further than I thought to the market, but definitely walk able.

The service was great. The amenities were standard. In general, it's a nice hotel and I would recommend it.

History abound in and around the hotel which was the original Citadel. The hotel is situated in the heart of Charleston. Charleston is the place if you love history.

The lobby and lounge area is tasteful and quite beautiful in the evening. Free drinks are served around five or six o'clock and that's nice, The free breakfast is so so. The rooms are a bit odd in that they were probably once dorm rooms; thus they are not your typical hotel suites. In most hotels there is a closet in the front foyer; our suite only had a wardrobe in the back bedroom. There needs to be a wardrobe in the living room or front room. Also the furniture is drab and could use some refurbishing.

It's worth about $150 a night because of the location. I must admit the staff there was warm, courteous and hospitable. However, I would not stay there again because it's just too pricy for the accomodations.

Our stay was wonderful. Room clean and comfortable (five of us in a double suite). Great view of the park with beautifullly decorated tree in the cente. Staff was attentive and ready to assist in every interaction.

Room Tip: Our fourth room overlooked the park across the street. A large window made for a great view.

Nice historic hotel, in a very good location for Charleston viewing. A bit pricy for the accommodations, but the history of the building, Citadel Military College makes it unique, and understandably different. Great brick feature wall in our room, great bed, wonderful pillows, and sheets. Hotel staff was wonderful, and very helpful.
We were disappointed by the quality of the cooked breakfast, tasteless omlete, cut fruit limited to melon, rather bland sausage. Room was very clean, but likely the cheapest toilet paper ever found in this price of hotel. Overall a nice stay, would be a value at around $150/night, but overpriced at $200 plus. Parking at $14 was steep for Charleston, at non-discounted rate in a city garage.

I am so pleased to hear you enjoyed our location which is very conducive to the historic sights. I'm sorry to hear about the quality of breakfast items served and your disappointment with some of the amenity charges. I'm reviewing this with our team and will make the necessary changes to our menu items. We will also re-examine our current offerings to ensure we're meeting guest needs and expectations. I hope you come back to see us and our lovely city again.

Embassy Suites Downtown Charleston was a great hotel. My family really enjoyed the history present in and around the hotel. Wonderful location for the downtown experience. Would stay their again. Good location for an indoor event. You can park and enjoy without moving your car. Manager Reception was Awesome!!!!

Room Tip: Corner Suites are larger. Beds not so firm, but comfortable.
