We stopped overnight on our way back to Florida, and chose this hotel because of the discount we clipped from a travel magazine. The room was $69 per night, and was a good value for the convenience. The staff was courteous and readilly accepted the coupon (unlike the hotel next door).
When we entered the first room, we immediately discovered a strong smell of smoke even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking room (302). We were given another room immediately after our request, and it did not have the same problem (312).
After spending a few hours winding down from a long ride, we began to notice that the room could use a bit more attention by the cleaning and maintenance workers. Mostly it was in the form of wall smudges, cracked furniture, and carpet stains. The beds and bath were clean, so there was no immediate concern.
Overall, I would say in the day and age this is the type of accomodation you can expect for a cost of under $70. A clean place to lay your head, and tub without mold to shower in. Worked for me.

Good location off the highway, we were driving from Ohio to Florida. The front desk was very accomodating, my partner was in a wheel chair and sick. There was a big group of teenagers in the hotel, I asked the clerk to put us in a room away from the kids. He did. It was very quiet. The room was big, clean and had the most comfortable beds and pillows. Very clean. Breakfast was good. Lots of shopping nearby.

Hotel seemed ok during check-in. Furniture was kind of banged up in room, bath tub didn't look too clean and pull out couch mattress was gross. About 10:30pm I notices a bug crawling on my husbands leg (room 120). After some looking, we found what looked like very small ants crawling up the light between the beds and across the wall to the divided wall. I went to the front desk and the only room available was a king (valentine) room. Not a family friendly room but we make it work. My 4 year old daughter was sleeping, so that was a fun move! The front desk clerk told us we would be "taken care of" at check-out the next morning. During check-out we were told that the king room we were moved to was $149. per night and because we were only charged $79 that was our compensation! Did they think I really wanted the valentine room on our family vacation?! No manager was available to talk to because it was Sunday. I called on Monday and the manager was not aware of the bug problem and told me we got a deal only paying $79 for the night and there would be no refund. After more discussion he did give a SMALL discount. We did not know the rack rate for the room was more than $79 per night and we were not aware we were "getting a deal" when we checked in. If you do stop here, be cautious of the rates and bugs!

Our family of 4 always looks forward to our 1 night stay at the Comfort Inn Fort Jackson Maingate on Garners Ferry Road. It is close to a 12 hour ride from our house to the hotel and it was always a pleasure to stop for the night before we continued on our trip to Florida. The indoor pool is always clean and very warm. Breakfast is always plentiful. We made the mistake once of making reservations at the Comfort Inn on Two Notch Road which is in deplorable condition. This year was the first we noticed how much this Comfort Inn was resembling the one on Two Notch Road. This year on arrival, our family quickly made our way down a smelly hall towards the pool we were in for a surprise. The indoor pool was very dirty, cold, and cloudy. In the past several years, we could not get the kids out of the pool. This year 15 minutes and they wanted to go back to the room. We headed back to the room to take a shower, and to our surprise, the bath tub had someones bathing suit hanging over the shower curtain. We also noticed a urine smell in the bathroom which didn't look all that clean. . Pulling the comforter back, holes were in the sheets. It was late and we didn't want to move to another room so stuck it out for a night. Breakfast (so they call it) at 7:30 AM, the next morning was rather slim. The only fruit was 3 green oranges. There were no pastries or muffins. They did have individual boxes of cereal. We had to ask for food to eat. They did find us an apple to eat but told us there were no bananas. When checking out before breakfast, we told the front desk clerk of our thoughts and he told us the manager would see us at breakfast. Of course, we never saw the manager. Not sure if it under a new manager who cares less, but they have ruined a fine place. A hotel we recommended to our friends and family is no longer on the recommended list. We will be shopping for a clean hotel for next year's trip.

Dirty and Deceptive--that's the Comfort Inn at 7337 Garners Ferry Rd., Columbia, SC./Fort Jackson Maingate. The bathroom tub floor in Rm. 209 was filthy with layers of dirt. The bathroom door handle had brown filth (can only guess what that was) plus the door itself around the handle was very dirty. When I checked out I was charged $1.00 for use of the room safe. I said "I didn't use the room safe. Take the charge off." The desk clerk refused to do so and pointed to a sign in the far corner of the front desk mentioning the charge must be removed at time of check-in or else they are not able to do it. They made no mention of this charge, either at booking or at check-in. Being in a hurry, I got my receipt and left. What a deceptive way to earn a buck! The breakfast room was also dirty--tables not cleaned. Milk was warm. Management at this hotel is clueless. I won't ever stay in another Comfort Inn. According to the business card, Prauveen Chauhan is the general manager.

I booked this hotel simply because it was close to Fort Jackson and had a hot tub. Well guess what the hot tub was broke NO HEAT and they couldn't get someone out to fix it for at least 3 days! other than that the place was nice and clean friendly front door staff just don't talk to the maids because they pretend like they don't speak english
