Even though this house doesn't have a deck to enjoy the breeze on, the swing outside is a nice touch. We enjoyed sitting on it at night. The big windows in the living room offered a fantastic view of the ocean. It was great tone that close to the beach. There were also chairs which was nice because we forgot to bring ours.
The reason I only gave 3 stars is due to the smell and condition of the carpets. We originally were going to stay on the 3rd floor because it is the only bedroom with a TV. We could only take it a couple of nights because of the smell. Not sure if they are just dirty or if it's mold. All the carpets need to be replaced. They are very stained. We did provide feedback to the rental company.
Some things we recommend:
Larger TV in the living room, TVs in all bedrooms, R/O water, wi-fi and replace carpets.
We chose this home because it is on the water, it is smack dab right on the water, at high tide its maybe 25ft from ocean, its perfect. The home has bedrooms on separate floor so its very private if you go with friends, which we did. There is only 1 shower inside, 1 outdoor shower , but we didn't find it a problem, there are 4 toilets though.
The home has all the basic necessities, it was a bring your own linens, so make sure you bring all linens, including hand towels for kitchen. The beds were very comfortable no complaints there are there are extra pillows and blankets in closets.
The cleaning charge was not included in our stay, we chose to clean it ourselves, so pack a few cleaning supplies.
OH!! apparently the island water front homes have salt water! We were not told this, it seems that its seasonal from what we read, May-September there is reverse osmosis in the homes but the amount of water is limited to 5 gallons a day. We were shocked! I think its something they should have told us but the local grocery store is less than a mile away so we just went and bought some drinking water. it didn't effect our stay at all once we realized, after we made a pot of coffee, lol.
We spent one day kayaking, we put in at Steamboat Landing, the kayaks were listed in a packet that was given to us at check in. It was a perfect way to spend the afternoon. and the price was only $20 a person for as many hours as we wanted.
We spent one day driving to Savannah GA, it was about a 2 hour drive, its totally worth the trip. We also spent a day in Charleston, it was cold that day so we didn't get to see as much as we wanted to, but its beautiful.
It was a great trip, we are actually looking into staying again next year at a larger house, we would stay here again but we have 15 people going so we'll need a bigger house. This house was perfect for our stay.
