Hot Tamale is a legacy fast food restaurant. This is what you got in the days before every exit featured the same five fast food chain restaurants. You got a local eatery off the side of the road - a roll of the gastronomical dice.
Like its chain brethren, it's open 24 hours. It smells like fried food because that is what it offers. You can choose from corn dogs, hot dogs, burgers and other edibles that have hot oil used in the cooking process. Ain't no veggies on the menu except for the burger toppings. They offer sodas and beer for beverages.
We walked in, checked out the menu and walked out. We were staying at SOB for two nights. We decided to go to Dillon for more dining options.
If you're going to stop for gas and fireworks and are on a schedule to get somewhere else, you may as well eat here. If you want better food, you better keep driving.
