We first visited Royal Dunes, using points from Diamond Resorts International. We were and still are so impressed with the accommodations and the friendliness of the staff, that we have bought four weeks of timeshare there. Every unit consists of two large master bedrooms with a king-sized bed and adjoining bath, a guest bedroom with two twin beds and a bathroom directly across the hall, a large fully equipped kitchen connecting with a living room and dining room, and a balcony overlooking either one of the two pools or the garden areas of the resort. The resort provides a free orientation breakfast every Monday, providing a short introduction to the resort and the various activities that are available on Hilton Head. Every Tuesday, the staff also provides either a free cookout during the warmer months or a free wine-and-cheese social during the cooler months. The resort is a short walk from Islanders Beach Park, which has restrooms and a nice shady playground in addition to the beach area.

We have been coming to this timeshare for over twenty years. This a great place to take in the activities of HHI.

The resort is considered an RCI Gold Crowne
The condos are great and a bit unusual because they have three bedroom, two of them are master suites. They keep the condos in tip top shape.

The resort has two pools on it. They have a guest barbecue on Tuesdays. Great fun for all ages. We are also a very close walking distance to the Ocean

We were a bit worried about any sustained hurricane damage, but the resort looked fine to me.

The interior of our condo was great but the areas outside could have been better (cleaner). It was a nice walk to the beach and the beach itself was beautiful. There were long stretches of flat, white shoreline. There are walkways/bike trails throughout the area so bicyclist would find it awesome. Restaurants were a short drive away and there were quit a few to choose from. They are, however, hidden by trees and oftentimes hard to find. I would recommend to those who don't mind walking quit a distance to the ocean and who are happy in a quiet environment.

I just returned from a great week in Hilton Head, staying at the Royal Dunes Resort. This is one of the nicest time share units we have stayed in. No vacation is perfect but the pluses outweigh the minuses.

First the pluses: There was plenty of space with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, plus a fold out couch. With a TV in every room you can find a spot to be with the group or get some alone time. We were in building 3, which is part of the 3 buildings that are around one of the two pools behind the office. Good location to get to the pool or the grill. The staff was very helpful, friendly, and accommodating. We had an issue with the air conditioning and they were there in less than 30 min to fix it. There is a shuttle to the beach that is great when it's running. The beach was beautiful! The resort is in a great quiet location. Pool closed at 10pm and right at 10pm, things got really quiet. In general, there isn't a lot of traffic in the area and with only 4 units per floor, it's pretty intimate.

The minuses: The shuttle to the beach only ran 0930 to 4:30. It's understandable given that the cost of having someone there just to drive wouldn't be prudent but we measured the walk from building 3 to toes in the sand at half a mile. I dropped off the family several times to save my pregnant wife and young son the walk. Parking was at a premium and the parking spots were really narrow. All of the SUV and minivans were packed in. There were some obvious areas that could use updating but overall the amenities were nice. The couch was uncomfortable but it's hard to find a foldout that is. There were a few maintenance issues typical of an older complex, we noticed and brought to the attention of management. It looks like they have recovered from the multiple hits they took from hurricanes last year.

We met several owners on the trip that love coming every year. There were several 3 generation families at the resort together. We may try to do that next year as the 3 bedroom set up would be great for that. We will definitely consider staying again if we can get a reservation. We lucked into this one as it seems most people use there weeks there and I can see why. While it's a not right next to the water, you gain space and quiet that you wouldn't have in a smaller hotel space. I think for a week long vacation, you can beat the options at Royal Dunes.

Royal Dunes was a great place. Comfortable bedding and furniture and adequately stocked with utensils for the amount of cooking we wanted to do. All staff I had contact with were very pleasant and helpful. The resort is small so not alot of activities on site. The beach is about a 10 min walk.
