The Marriott goes above and beyond with this Beach Club. The pools are huge and there are multiple private hot tubs. The ocean is at most a 5 min. walk. Everything is close. There are activities for adults and children. Marriott sure does make it a memorable experience. Tip: When you call to make a reservation, ask for a room AWAY from the elevators and on the 4th or 5th floor. If you do this, you get a side ocean view for no additional charge (beats looking at trees) and you avoid the noise from the elevator and people/children running down the hall.

We had been to Hilton Head before, but not this resort. In keeping with most of the Marriott timeshares, the quality of the villa/apartment was very good. Big bedrooms, well equipped kitchen , easy parking.
It was off season, but there were still a good variety of activities and the coffee shop etc was open.
Beachfront a very short walk away.
All in all, a very nice resort, would be lovely in the warmer weather.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the ocean.

Marriott's Barony Beach Resort is located in the Port Royal resort area just off SR 278. Marriott's Barony Beach Resort is an extremely desirable Atlantic Ocean Front Marriott Vacation Club. If you are ready for an upscale holiday oceanfront in the “Low Country,” this is THE Place! Marriott's Barony Beach Resort is a perfect holiday retreat for families and for couples. We always take delight in seeing multi-generations using several condo units to holiday. Our advice is to reserve a two bedroom or at least a one-bedroom property. Please do not “settle” for a studio unit.

Marriott's Barony Beach Resort has several buildings that are oceanfront, several buildings that that provide views of the Atlantic. The other units are considered “garden units,” and do have a nice swimming pool.

Marriott's Barony Beach Resort is one of the newest of several Marriott Vacation Club Resorts in Hilton Head Island. We think it impossible for all of the Marriott Vacation Club owners to agree on “the best” Marriott Vacation Resort. There are seven Marriott Vacation Club Resorts, and one Marriott Hilton Head Island Beach Resort & Spa in Hilton Head.

We observe that many guests of Marriott's Barony Beach Resort are either Marriott “timeshare” owners or owners of other branded timeshares. Other guests may have “booked” Marriott's Barony Beach Resort, and may not quite be certain of the difference between Marriott's Barony Beach Resort and a Marriott Hilton Head Island Beach Resort & Spa. All eight properties are similar, and all eight properties use common terminology: “Condo Style Suite, 2 Bedroom Condominium, Bedroom 1: 1 King, Bedroom 2: 2 Double, Bathrooms: 2.”

Marriott Hilton Head Island Beach Resort & Spa is similar to a Marriott Vacation club, and offers “resort hotel” amenities such as daily maid service, numerous on-property dining areas, and general “hotel” features. The seven Marriott Vacation Club Resorts do not provide free daily maid service, and on property dining is very limited. This is not a negative because there are 400+ “restaurants” within minutes, and 40+ upscale restaurants as well.

Ok: the primary difference is that many guests in Marriott's Barony Beach Resort Vacation Club have either purchased a deeded timeshare weeks or the newer Marriott Destination Points (Not Marriott Reward Points.) However, Marriott Reward Points may be used to book Marriott's Barony Beach Resort, and one might simply book Marriott's Barony Beach Resort as one reserves any hotel property. If you are a Marriott’s Reward member, please display your Marriott Elite card to enjoy enhanced villa accommodations.

My wife and I have been “timesharers” for 30+ years, and timesharing with all of it’s advantages and disadvantages is a lifestyle choice. We purchased Marriott's Barony Beach Resort while on Holiday at Marriott’s Barony Beach. We now own six Marriott Resorts and six additional non-Marriott resorts for our holidays.

In general folks who elect to purchase vacation properties enjoy independent navigation, and like the advantages of condo ocean front holidays at a premium resort that is “first class.” In addition to the purchase price, we pay an annual maintenance fee of about $1,100.00 per week of ownership. We either exchange our Marriott's Barony Beach Resort through Marriott or through Interval International (please Goggle the terms) to many other “Timeshares” throughout the U.S. and the world. We have holidayed in nearly all Marriott U.S. Vacation Clubs. In our view, Marriott's Barony Beach Resort, while smaller is as nice as the Newport CA Beach Marriott Vacation Club. And some years we do enjoy both the Atlantic and the Pacific beaches.

We understand that an automobile is essential, and we fly into Savannah, select a car rental, and holiday. We cherish the nearby Publix supermarket for morning breakfast preparation, take breakfast and coffee on our private decks, and either dine out at the many Hilton Head area restaurants or prepare lunches and dinners at our condos. All condos are equipped with washers and dryers. I might be happy to enjoy the Atlantic Ocean all week and never leave the property; however, my wife is a list maker, and she determines if we are going shopping, visiting upscale consignment shops, taking day trips to Savannah or Beaufort, and selecting the restaurants.

We always rent GM OnStar vehicles, and we seem to “know" Hilton Head fairly well. Marriott's Barony Beach Resort offers a much-needed carefree luxury holiday. We shall return again and again. We typically arrive a day early and depart a day late; we elect the Savannah Marriott Riverfront Hotel in order to enjoy Savannah.

Room Tip: We prefer ocean front and ocean view; however, the garden villas are a short walk to the beach

We had a chance to slip away in January and were very fortunate to be able to land a reservation at Marriott Barony Beach. Apparently some one had cancelled and we were able to book it. Time Share reps there still had the old reservation name in the data bank, go figure. But the people here are simply wonderful. This has got to be the most "involved" Marriott we have ever been to. They have something for everyone going on almost all the time. As this was a bit off-season for Hilton Head, having lots to do on property was great! We were there to honor a milestone in our marriage. we requested an ocean front or ocean view room, but was told politely that those were only for owners at this resort. Ok.
Our villa overlooked the gardens and outdoor pool which was heated but closed.
The exterior of the units look dated but the interiors are very nice.
It's not in Sea Pines, where we have always stayed for the past 30 years. So that was a bummer. It seemed that the other guests were mostly Americans and that was interesting. Many other Marriotts seem to attract a more international crowd.
Everyone was very friendly and warm, even though the weather was a bit chilly.
All in all, it was a very nice experience.

I stayed here Christmas 2012, and was very happy with our 2 2-bdrm units. There were 8 of us and we had plenty of room. The bed was probably one of the most comfortable time share beds I've been on. We understood going in that as exchange users we would not get the best rooms. It makes sense to me that owners would get first choice. The kids enjoyed the indoor pool, and other activities available. My only complaint is that almost every day there was a car in the handicapped spot without any kind of handicapped sticker or license. Possibly an employee. And we did lots of other things on the island - there was even an 'ice' skating rink. Although that was not very good. I'm biased, but I like One Hot Mama's for diiner - best ribs and wings around. And off the Island, in Bluffton, find Sublime Prime, a very nice steak house with very good wine, and an entertainer on Sat. I would stay here again.
