This is a very nice location right on the beach. It is close to the back gate of Sea Pines Plantation. Room are nice with a large master suite.

We just stayed at the Grande Ocean for 4 nights during our Spring Break Trip. WE love the Marriott brand of vacation clubs! All the amenities of a Marriott, but the convenience of a condo. My kids (age 8 and 9) loved the variety of pools and hot tubs, giant chess set, ping pong and lagoon where they could feed the fish. We loved the comfortable condo and the beautiful beach-front view of our Sand Dollar building that we stayed in. The service was great. Great pool-bar. Only wish would be for more casual dining options, but the one casual lunch we did have at the pool grill was very good. We did take the Vacation Club meeting for a $400 credit and learned a lot, and are actually considering buying into the club next year.

Room Tip: Ocean-front Sand Dollar building was great!

This is for Pool Bar Jim's only. We did not stay at resort, just frequent PBJ's from time to time. This is a tiki bar outside the Marriott resort in South Forest Beach. Always clean, always a good crowd. Problem is that I am not a rich person so I can only afford one drink at this place even though they are excellent-made from real fruit and real booze. They give you the entire contents of the blender. Best drink on the island but bring lots of cash.

If you are usually happy with Marriott Vacation Clubs, then this resort should meet your expectations. We were here during an unusually cold time, so there wasn't a whole lot to do as a family. We spent a lot of time at the indoor pool, and the bike rentals were great towards the end of the week when the temperatures normalized. I can see how Hilton Head has a lot of appeal in the summer. The bike paths in Sea Pines are amazing.

Overall, I think this property needs more interior updating then they have recently put in. I tend to think Marriott doesn't do a great job keeping things as up to date as they could given this is an older vacation club. We stay at quite a few vacation clubs because we are owners in Hawaii, and this meets the "standard" that we are used to but it certainly doesn't exceed expectations.

Room Tip: Ask about the recently renovated buildings

We rented a two bedroom and were surprised to find out how spacious it was. The second bedroom had 2 large double beds and a full bathroom.
The unit was spotless and had a full size kitchen.
The hotel is on the beach but most rooms do not have a view of the beach. There are multiple swimming pools and hottubs. There are activities throughout the day. The young adults running the activities were fun and helpful.

Owners of the units are entitled to free daily tennis clinics. Unfortunately, guests need to pay $18 per 1 hour clinic.

Room Tip: If you can get a beach view, go for it. It is very hard as these units are not often available
