“Would definitely come back”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2012

I've been coming to Myrtle Beach for many years but normally rent a family friend's condo. That wasn't an option this time, so we booked at the Sea Watch thanks to the good reviews on Trip Advisor.

Stayed in the North Tower - first room was 1709, second room was 1507.

We called the hotel to let them know that we would be having a very late check in around 12:30am on Thursday (instead of Wednesday when we were supposed to arrive). They made a note of this on our paper. When we got there we had absolutely no problems checking in and we really appreciated that after a long day of driving.

Thursday morning we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Love the waffles! All the employees at breakfast were very friendly. We ate outside on the deck overlooking the pool and ocean. That was nice.

Later on in the day, we had come back up to our room for a quick break and I went outside on the balcony to read my Kindle. I was out there for a few minutes before I got hit with a very strong smell of marijuana. I leaned over the balcony to see who the heck is dumb enough to smoke marijuana out in the open on their balcony, and of course it was the people right next to me. I called down to the front desk to report this issue because I was unable to enjoy our balcony due to the smell. The front desk said they would send a security guard up right away. He arrived within 2 minutes of me calling and I guess he spoke to the people because they stopped smoking out there. However, I did not feel safe being by this group of people anymore in case they knew it was me who called, so we requested to change rooms. The front desk was very helpful and accommodating. We were in a new room within 15 minutes. In NO WAY whatsoever do I blame the hotel for the marijuana smoking fools (After all, it was 4/20) Just needed to cite this incident to show that the hotel did a great job of taking care of the problem at hand.

Love the location on the beach! It was not too crowded, probably because we are here in the "off" season still.

So, here's my recap of the pros and cons:
PROS:
- Nice location
- Beach is great
- Love breakfast buffet
- Helpful employees
- Comfortable bed
- Clean hotel room

CONS:
- Paper thin walls - can hear all neighbor's activities from your left and right, above you and below you
- Lazy river and hot tubs needed cleaning on Thursday, looked better by Friday afternoon
- Lunch was expensive from the restaurant - got charged tax and a takeout fee to take my food down to the beach

Overall, I really enjoyed the Sea Watch and we will definitely return on our next trip to Myrtle Beach!

Room Tip: Higher levels in North Tower have great views!

Took our 1st vaca to Myrtle Beach recently & chose to stay at the Sea Watch - primarily due to the reviews/pics found here on TA. GREAT CHOICE! Receptionist Gabby was friendly & helpful, even allowed us to checkin early since our room was ready (North Tower - 1104). 2BR/2BA condo style room was wonderful - clean, quiet & well furnished. View was AMAZING - we chose an Oceanfront room - WOW! Large balcony was wonderful for sitting on & just looking out......took advantage (w/4 kids - OF COURSE!) of all the hotel had to offer - the pools - outside pool was warm & clean - outside jacuzzi (3 of them) were warm & bubbly - inside pool was warmer than outside - as was the huge indoor jacuzzi. Also a great lazy river for the kids.....cool but refreshing! Just steps (really - like 75!) away from the pool is the beach. Sandy & clean - showers for rinsing after playing in the ocean & re-entering the pool area too. Drink bar by the pool has all sorts of beverages including many kid-friendly choices too. Resort also had daily activities for all age groups - bean bag tosses - foos ball tourneys - free dvd rentals......w/the cost we had several options for lodging - but factored in the pools/all we had mentioned/washer & dryer in the rooms - AND the beach access - GREAT CHOICE - we will be back again!

Room Tip: Oceanfront rooms - although a little more than the oceanview rooms - are well worth the price!

Our stay at Sea Watch Resort for spring break was excellent. We had a 2 bedroom ocean front condo in the south tower. The condo fit all 8 of us perfectly, it had one king bed, 2 full beds, a sofa bed, plus 2 bathrooms. We arrived at the resort at 11:30am and Gabby, a very nice and helpful receptionist, gave us a condo that was ready for immediate check it. That was awesome. The condo was clean and well maintained. The pools were all heated and we swam even when it was only 70 degrees. The front desk responded to all our request very quickly. Security ways always walking the grounds and very friendly. The resort had many activities for the whole family everyday. The kids enjoyed making pottery, tie-dying t-shirts, and watching the hula/fire show. Also, the resort was perfectly located between myrtle and north myrtle beach. It was very close to Tanger outlets, Walmart, Barefoot Landing and about 20 minutes from Broadway at the Beach. We enjoyed our stay here very much and hope to return next year!

Room Tip: I liked the south tower, less busy.

Couple things I would suggest. Need bathrooms down by the pools. Walking upstairs not very user friendly. Not sure why the ice creme / coffee shop does not stay open later. Why closed on Monday and on Easter? Seemed like with one of two food places you have you keep open all day and night. Drinks at the bar way over priced. Music by pool everyday would be nice

Thank you so much for sharing with us your suggestions and ideas. The Captain's Nook is usually open later in the summer and during a couple of evenings offers to go orders from the menu. We are careful to not overwhelm the property with music so that all guests have an opportunity to enjoy just relaxing and listening to the ocean. We are so glad that overall you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you and your family again.

This is one of the many reason why i didnt wanna leave today. The southern hospitality and the happy faces make me want to retire just live there.
We checked in 4 days ago. I havent been to SC, so i was a little disappointed that Myrtle Beach isnt in a boarwalk like Va Beach, but thats behind me.
The room we got was on the higher floors with 1 bedroom. Its not über-modern (more like 80-ish), but i didnt mind because of the cleanliness and the spectacular view of the ocean. I believe all are efficiency rooms, thus, there
Was a kitchen, fridge, microwave, dish
Washer. The only unfortunate experience was when i was left to wonder if pots and pans were meant to be there since i found laddles and pot-holders. Not that i needed them. Well, i did, the first day when my daughter asked me to make
Her something. Anyway, yes, i asked the night before we checked out if pots/pans were meant to be there and i was told there were suppposed to be. I told the front desk lady(Cythia) no big deal but she said that it was, as it needed to be addressed.
Ok, enough on that.
Check-in was brief. Christina actually allowed us to check in earlier than 3pm, as the room ready (of course, in retrospect, thats probably why the pots and pans were missing).
Breakfast buffet was not so bad, except we had to eat the same thing for 3 days; they can improve on changing/varying the menu, as we literally ate the same food everyday. Marvin, the omelet chef/cook, was nice. The other cook could use some friendly smile.
The elderly host by the entrance is very warm And friendly. The same thing with the big, African-American man, who bussed the tables---- they both seemed very happy with their jobs. Kudos to them, too! I left the busser a little tip today for going out of his way to give us coffee, juice, and toast, when the waited for the waitresses for forever.
The hotel does not make you want to leave. Situated right on the beach, it is perfect. I will definitely come back!

While my husband and I have made numerous trips to Sea Watch Resort, this is the first time we've stayed there during a "busy time". Since our children are grown, we've always managed to be there when schools were in session for a quiet and uncrowded visit.

However, in spite of the many people on the property and on the beach, our recent visit - from April 3-6, 2012- was still enjoyable and restful!

Probably our most frequent encounter with "crowds" was when we went to the breakfast buffet, which was included in the price of our condo. We quickly learned from the very helpful restaurant manager that most people were coming for breakfast early, so we found a later breakfast time meant we didn't have to wait to be seated or in the line for the buffet.
Let me mention that if we had had to wait a few minutes it would have been worth the wait!

Our main goal for this trip was "de-stressing". The weeks leading up to our visit had stressed us beyond our limits, but the "corner condo" where we stayed gave us close visual and audio of the ocean. To me, especially, nothing relaxes more than the sound of the waves at Myrtle Beach. We walked on the beach and ate at our favorite restaurant, Sea Captain's House, a fifteen minute drive away.

Once again, I recommend Sea Watch Resort. If you don't have children, you may prefer off season trips, but as we discovered during this visit, it was enjoyable during a "peak season".

Room Tip: We have stayed in the South Tower and the North Tower and we greatly prefer the North Tower, primar...
