Looking for a special resturant to celebrate our 28th anniverary and we found it. The Library excelled in many regards: Great sevice, our server, Andrew, covered all our needs and requests in an attentive and natural manner, and anticipating our needs. Food was expertly prepared, in our case steak au proive and salmon entres, and the escargot and she-crab soup apps were about the best we have ever had. The cocktails also were perfect--nice touch having the tiny ice bits in the French 75. Some oddities popped up--the steak au proive lacked the expected (and all but standard) cracked pepper crust, though it was quite good. There were a number of off-the-menu specials, unpriced, which may (or not) be of concern. And this exceptional service and food in a town known for mid-level family buffet restuarnts is not inexpensive. The wine by the glass options were only okay. We will return.

everything was very good but definitely not worth over $200 for two people. We shared an appetizer that was a special......$50.00!!! We where never told the price. Had A martini and a beer. a salad again shared and two entrees. Yikes. I guess if you have to ask the price you can't afford it right!! Like I said nice dinner. Nothing special inside. Never be back thought. Food just as good for half the price other places.

The Library is a rare gem that takes you back to when service was a special part of a special meal. The food is expensive, for sure, but for a special meal, they can't be beat. We have been going regularly for special occasions for the last 7 or 8 years, and even though they moved further away from us, we can't resist the drive to a meal that is so worth every second and every penny. If you think the new location is strange, to find such a fancy restaurant in a strip mall, you should have visited the old location, next to "Bad Kitty". We always got a good laugh about that, but one taste of the food is all it takes to drop the stereotypes in your head and recognize that you've made the right choice.

The Caesar salad is just an amazing experience. We were sad to learn they stopped making the dressing table-side, but once we tried it in the new way (dressing prepared in the kitchen, salad dressed, tossed, and served table-side), we are happy. It was just as good, and if we'd not experienced Chris mashing up anchovies for us in prior days, we wouldn't know we were missing anything.

The filet Diane is a favorite for our family...usually three orders or more at the table. The regular filet is also a huge favorite. The lobster is outstanding, and the lamb is great too. For dessert, don't miss their twist on bananas foster - it' awesome.

Only regret is that Oysters Rockefeller is no longer on the menu. But, we can get over that. Glad Chris and Shad are still running a great experience in the new location, and we hope they will for many years to come. Let us know when you're ready to open The Library-South, in Pawleys!

There were some appetizers and entrees not on the printed menu and it was those meals that we ordered. Every entree will cost you about 45 dollars, but that's normal at fine restaurants. The center cut steak was good and the wife's halibut was also good. The thing to watch for is the latest orchestrated effort by restaurant owners to get you to pay for their employees so they can keep more money for themselves. They will persuade you that the tipping rate is 18 per cent, which is nonsense. They print a suggested gratuity on your bill showing 18 percent and 25 percent. They calculate this newly contrived amount based on the cost of the meal plus the cost of the taxes. If you think that there is nothing wrong with that, then next time you file your Income tax return, multiply your taxes owed by 15 percent and add that to your balance due.
