3 years ago we received a flyer in the mail about Island Vista. Now for the past 3 years it's the only place we have stayed and I would return for 10 more years. The rooms have got to be the biggest in Myrtle Beach. If there are larger rooms we haven't found them and we've looked. And they are really quiet. Never once have we heard someone beside us or from above. Every body is so nice, the rooms are extremly clean and the staff cleans them daily. We don't like being on high floors and every single year the manager has granted our request to stay lower, including the first year when the request was made at checkin. Parking, while tight for a full sized SUV, is still nice because of the dual parking garages attached to either side. Just back in and you'll be fine. The Tiki bar at the one pool is nice because you can get drinks and "lunch food" at prices you would expect. The one pool has a step down depth, where part of it is 1' foot, then drops to 2', then to 3', then slopes out to 5 or 6. This is real nice because with younger kids it's easy to keep an eye on them in the depth they are allowed and the kids know where they are allowed to go. The location is great because it's close to everything but it's in a residential part of the beach where it's not overly crowded. It's about 1.5-2 miles north of the center downtown area of the beach where the hotels are one of top of another. This one has great elbow room. The 3 BdR condo we stay in has a large straight on view of the beach which I belive all of the rooms enjoy. None of the angled side view balconys of some places and try and convince you that it's beach side. The pool area has a daily guitar player\singer who we love to listen to daily and now yearly. One night during the week is raggae night where kids are invited to come up and play numerous drums, shakers, and bongos. My daughter loved performing for the guests on stage. While you would think the "out of beat" drumming and beating would be distracting to the singer, he's great with the youngsters and takes it in stride knowing ahead of time "it is what it is". One of the last nights was Hawaiian night, where an entire family of Hawaiian's take over the lawn\\pool area and dance, fire dance, tell stories, and serve Hawaiian dinners to the guests. The back flip into the pool as a finale was great.
