The facility was very nice, clean and well maintained. The pool is a bit small but adequate, clean and refreshing. The marina proximity was a significant plus for us.

I understand that the marina and the hotel have separate operations but I think that a cooperative agreement could be reached for a deeper discount on slip fees for transient guests to keep their boat ($.50/foot)...

A beach shuttle would be really nice into Cherry Grove (2 hour rotation)...

Having towels available at the pool instead of the front desk would be more convenient

Room Tip: Get a room as far as you can from the turn-bridge (dong-dong-dong-dong...).

We had a fabulous mini "vaca" at the resort. The condo had everything we needed and the view of the Marina was spectacular. The location was perfect being minutes from the beach, restaurants and of course "Walmart!" We had a great time.

Overall experience was good. Rooms were clean. Staff was friendly, but could be more knowledgeable. Nice balcony - however saw some guests smoking in the balcony.
Kids loved the place as well.

We booked our stay at Harbourgate Resort and Marina through our Global Discoveries travel club and stayed for a week in late June.

Our one-bedroom, fourth floor unit was very nice, and the view over the marina was lovely. The unit was very open, with the kitchen/dining area taking up the majority of the main space. The comfortable living room area included a sleeper sofa, an easy chair, entertainment center and large flat screen TV. Sliding glass doors led out to the small balcony where we could enjoy our morning coffee or afternoon wine. The bathroom was nice sized, but the bedroom was really too small for the king size bed. Not much room to move around in there. There was ample storage, and a washer/dryer came in handy.

The pool was definitely unique, as a large portion of it was under cover. I heard some complaints about that, but since it was quite hot during our visit, we enjoyed the shade. The pool area was clean, with plenty of nice lounge chairs as well as a few tables and chairs. The pool itself is definitely small, but there never seemed to be a crowd there, so it was adequate. Oddly, the water in the pool was cold! It’s a heated pool but only October-April. And since a large portion of the pool is under cover, the sun never warms the water. The hot tub was clean and HOT, and we really enjoyed it more than the pool.

There is a restaurant on site, but we didn’t eat there, as there are virtually hundreds of choices within a couple of miles.

The property is very near a main highway, so it was sort of noisy sometimes outside, especially in the pool area. Inside, however, it was quiet. We seldom heard noise from other units, aside from water running or an occasional door slamming. (Those doors are HEAVY!)

The unit was not as clean as I would have liked when we arrived. Not nasty, by any means, but some of the furniture was dusty, the stove had not been wiped clean, and the oven was dirty. Also, the carpet had not been vacuumed thoroughly. Nothing that we didn’t fix with a few minutes work. This is billed as a non-smoking building, but it was obvious previous guests had been smoking in our unit. Fixed that with a little Febreeze. However, there was a lot of evidence of others smoking in the building as well. If it is going to be a non-smoking building, it should be enforced.

The staff members were courteous and helpful all week. No complaints there at all.

A couple of things to be aware of, as far as supplies. The “startup kit” does not include any paper towels or coffee filters. One tiny bottle of dish detergent and enough dishwasher soap for one load of dishes are provided. No laundry detergent, of course. There were sufficient dishes and cookware for casual cooking. Not so much if you plan to fix substantial meals. No oven dishes, no potholders.

Bathroom supplies consist of one roll of t.p., a tiny bottle of moisturizer and an even smaller bottle of shampoo.

It’s been our experience when we travel through Global, that a mid-week housekeeping service is included. It was not at Harbourgate.

Wi-fi service was unreliable, given to cutting us off with annoying frequency. Wired internet is available, but the connection is inconveniently located next to the kitchen sink!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. And I certainly don’t mean to discourage anyone from staying here. It’s a perfectly nice facility with a few little kinks. It can't be beat, for the price through Global. When you stay a week rather than a night or two, you're going to notice more little things. We would certainly stay here again if we return to the area.
