25 Valasay cottage is tastefully furnished. It has one twin and one double bedroom as well as a spacious lounge and a well-equipped kitchen. It is very clear and has a wonderfull view on the sea.
There are interesting books about the islands at our disposal and the famous Peter May's trilogy if it happens to rain.
It was the ideal place to start exploring Lewis.
Our landlady is very wellcoming and made our stay very easy.

“Valasay Crofthouse is the tops!”
Reviewed July 16, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We toured Scotland for 6 weeks and stayed at 6 different self-catering establishments. Valasay was easily the best. Anne is such a caring proprietor - the right mix of helpful and hospitable, but not hanging over your shoulder. The house is immaculate and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was well stocked with kitchen utensils, pots, pans, etc - everything we needed. Not only everything we needed - but of fine quality. The scenery around the croft house is so breathtaking - with wonderful walks right out the front door. I wouldn't hesitate recommending Valasay to anyone and if we ever go back to Isle of Lewis we would most definitely wish to stay here again. The best part of our stay? An adorable border collie named Reilly, who was always there to welcome us 'home' from a day out.

“A great place to stay on beautiful Bernera and Lewis”
Reviewed May 18, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Valasay is a modern, well equipped and comfortable house on a croft in a beautiful and fairly central location, allowing you to explore the islands of Great Bernera and Lewis. One of the best walks is right from your front door, around the coast to the iron age site and deserted village of Bostadh, which is in a spectacular location. Our hosts, Anne and Chris Ryan, are locals who are very knowledgeable and helpful about what to see and do. Their dog Riley is part of the welcoming team, but you have to throw balls for him to catch.

“A beautiful situaton to be at one with the glorious elements....”
Reviewed October 13, 2013 for a stay in October 2013

We have enjoyed four days exploring only a tiny bit of Lewis, each day returning to a lovely warm and comfortable croft, excitingly situated on the edge of the Atlantic. A very well equipped kitchen and homely sitting room with perfect-for-relaxing-in-front-of-cosy-open fire. A truly wonderful holiday experience.

“Valasay, Isle of Lewis.”
Reviewed October 13, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

Upon arrival we were greeted by Anne who gave us a warm welcome and introduction to the Isle of Lewis and Bernera. She also baked an excellent banana cake. The house was very comfortable and was well equipped. It also had an extremely comfy bed, not too soft, which too many holiday cottages seem to provide. The cottage is positioned in one of the most scenic spots with ideal access to the beautiful Bosta beach. We would definitely stay in Valasay again.

Valasay Crofthouse is lovely. The location is unique and beautiful, perched on a rocky hill above a finger of the sea, looking out to a wider bay and mountains beyond. The light is exquisite, the sunsets remarkable.

The house itself isn't bad either. It's clean and spacious for a two bedroom property. The beds were comfortable. Anne and Chris took the time to talk to us, which was a lovely treat, and they shared their friendly dog, Riley, an added plus. We had a wonderful stay in an exceptional location.

“Unusually beautiful spot & friendly people”
Reviewed October 1, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We stayed here for five days and loved it. Plenty of room for three people, lovely colors in the house, well equipped, and clean. Fabulous views of the unusual rocky landscape, sea visible from the windows and lovely sea side walking path just outside the door. Very picturesque area that captivated us.
Owner Anne is lovely, enjoyed a visit with her about her deep family roots on the island, and about crofting, land use and ownership, and other interesting subjects.
A lovely self-catering house in a gorgeous location - recommend it highly (and hope to return myself).
