We stayed the week of Thanksgiving and we had a amazing time ! The river is literally at your door ! The cabin has everything that you need other than food. The kids loves fishing and playing on the play set
This little cabin was fantastic and in an idyllic location in the Tennessee River Gorge. Everything was very comfortable, and the hosts were lovely, friendly people. The dock is just a few steps away from the cabin, and you can easily take out canoes or kayaks and explore the waterways. This is a quiet location to just relax, enjoy the water, and get away for a few days. I hope to be able to come back in the future!
Loved it here! Great, clean and cozy cabin river front cabin with lots of land around that was able to accommodate family and friends that came up to stay with us in a small camper and tents. Owner was really nice too very hospitable, true hospitality at its best! Definitely will be going back in the future.
This is a magnificent hidden treasure! It was perfect for my wife and I, all the fun of camping with all of the comforts of home. The cabin has a comfortable bed, small fridge, grill, coffee maker...all the necessities. The serenity of the river is indescribable. The dock is just 30 feet from the cabin and we were able to take full advantage of the awesome fishing time. A canoe was provided and we paddled the river, enjoying the scenery and even got a visit from an otter on our trip up the river. The owner, Billy, was Awesome! He even noticed us sitting on the porch while he was boating and took us for a ride to watch the sunset, which was phenomenal. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a no frills but very comfortable experience in paradise.
We discovered Tennessee River Gorge Island Cabins while taking a vacation in Tennessee to visit The Paper Clip Project, located in the Whitwell Middle School. The school studied the Holocaust and, after receiving millions of paper clips as part of their study, developed an amazing Children's Holocaust Memorial. Their story is fascinating, and the memorial is well worth a visit.
We found the cabins on line and talked with the very pleasant owner before making our reservation. We met Charles and Brad as soon as we arrived, and they helped us move into their newest cabin and delivered 2 kayaks and fishing gear for us to use. That evening they took us on their pontoon boat for a guided tour of the beautiful gorge.
We were very pleased with the cabin and the personal attention that Brad and Charles gave us. It was a wonderful vacation, and we are already planning a revisit to see other near-by sites.
Our cabin on the Tennessee River was a fantastic surprise. We knew nothing about the place, but Brad immediately made us feel welcome. Charles got us set with kayaks and fishing gear, and provided bait to temp the bass. A favorite memory was paddling kayaks at 6:00am, mist hovering above the water...as it dissipated, the reflection of the Tennessee hills was unbelievable. Our cabin #2 was private and so comfortable...grill, semi-outdoor shower, beautiful log interior, jacuzzi, campfire, wonderful porch where we watched osprey, kingfisher, and great blue herons...couldn't have asked for more. Charles and Brad took us out on their pontoon boat twice, and told us lots of history of the area, as well as giving fishing tips and sharing great stories. They both became our good friends. We will definitely return to do suggested awesome hiking in the surrounding hills, as well as just relaxing in the serenity of the area. Thanks to Charles and Brad for a beautiful and memorable get-away.
When someone talks about an island getaway you think sand and ocean surf and drinks with umbrellas, but for me I think of somewhere like this. These little cabins are tucked away on a little island sitting at the foot of jaw dropping gorges that truly never get old to just sit in awe looking at. They're super clean and comfy and you're welcomed by one of the kindest hosts you could ask for while enjoying your island getaway. I took my two kids, who are 8 and 10, to cabin #2 for a couple nights while doing a cross country road trip and it was everything and more that I dreamed it would be for us. We enjoyed fishing and canoeing the Tennessee river and cooked on the grill for basically all our meals which made for some great memories for all of us. Whether you're going alone, as a couple, or a family adventure this place will not be a disappointment. 5 star adventures will be had here!
