I live in north Alabama, so finding Sal's was just a chance meeting. We had been on the road all day chasing the Solar Eclipse and ran into heavy traffic as we were making our way out of Nashville. We decided to let some of the traffic spill out and happened into Sal's Family Restaurant. The restaurant is located in a strip mall they share with other stores and a big grocery chain store. When we arrived, it was clear the restaurant was the haunt of a large party of parents and their children (who were very well behaved) and what appeared to be a small group of 20-30 somethings who were enjoying an outing together. The wait staff were friendly and helpful and offered up a few suggestions for my Dad who was struggling with some dental problems and chewing was painful. We both opted for spaghetti and were both impressed. The sauce was delicious and the pasta was cooked well, but not overcooked. We had a nice chat with one of the staff members who was curious about our experience with the Eclipse and that chat was nice and rare these days. Sal's is clearly a family restaurant in the truest sense of the word and if I am ever in the area, I will make a special effort to visit again.
