Our third visit now to this well positioned hotel on the sea front. So easy to get to and on such a beautiful beach.

Just returned from the Golden Sands Hotel, St Brelade's Bay, Jersey and we loved it.

The hotel is situated right on the beach with panoramic views of St Brelade's Bay.

The rooms are clean and comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities.
We had a sea view room with balcony.

The food is fantastic. Breakfast is buffet service with a huge choice of both cold and hot food, all of an excellent quality.

Dinner is waiter service with a choice from the daily menu, or you can choose from the grill menu, I would rate the food 10/10 - compliments to the chef. Tip: try the steak, it's the best I have ever had.

There is not a lot to do in the evening but there is a bus stop outside the hotel into St Helier with connections to other parts of the island.

Room Tip: Tip: Chose a sea view room, which has a balcony. The non sea view rooms are located at the rear of...

We booked this hotel after having done lots of Internet research. I wasn't expecting anything great because it was very reasonably priced and we were only able to get a standard room at short notice. We booked it mainly for the location (right on the beach) but actually the room, food, service, etc. far exceeded our expectations (to the extent that we have booked to return next year!).

The room was lovely - in particular the bathroom was very modern, great water pressure and nice toiletries. The bed was massive, although not the most comfortable I've ever stayed in (I am being very picky - it was more than good enough really!). For a standard room, I was quite impressed - balcony over the beach, modern room with a nice big wardrobe. There was no safe or robes; we weren't expecting them anyway. No aircon, but who needs it when you can leave the balcony door open and listen to the waves instead! Maid service was ok - a bit patchy (e.g. sugar/tea wasn't always replenished) but great service when we accidentally left the 'do not disturb' sign up and our room didn't get cleaned in the morning when we were out - the room was serviced in the evening instead.

Service in the hotel was generally very good. I celebrated a special birthday during our stay and my husband organised flowers and cake through the hotel. Bar and restaurant service was great - not stuffy so we could have nice relaxing meals. Reception staff were also really friendly and helpful.

Evening meals were fab! We risked booking half board and had absolutely no regrets. Lots of choice, with a daily table d'hote menu with too many nice things to choose from! Excellent puddings (when we could manage them!) and I really like the sorbet course (different every day). The breakfast buffet wasn't so great. I personally found the cooked food to be too greasey, however if you order from the menu (e.g. kippers for a small supplement), the food was great quality and freshly prepared. We opted to eat breakfast in our room most mornings and it was always on time and seemed to be better quality than in the restaurant.

OK, there's no pool or spa, there's no aircon, no parking (easily sorted with public car park opposite main entrance) BUT this is an excellent hotel with an outstanding location, offering great value for money. For the first time ever, we booked on the spot to return again!

Room Tip: We had a standard seaview balcony room on the third floor and I would recommend that to anyone.

We stayed for a week and thought that the hotel was fantastic. The hotel room was spotless and well maintained. We were on the 4th floor and with 2 small children may book a lower floor next time as we were very worried about the balcony- however the views were amazing. The food is really very good. My husband is a real foodie and I was worried that it was a risk to book half board but it really impressed us and the desserts in particular were as good as any top restaurant that we have eaten in. We chose to eat in the bar most evenings, at first due to the fact that the kids needed to eat earlier, yet we ended up eating there mainly due to the excellent service and atmosphere that the all of the bar staff created. Peter the waiter/ barman really contributed to our stay- he was so helpful and knowledgeable about the food and wine, but also was great at entertaining two tired young kids every evening! The restaurant staff were also friendly and helpful- in fact everyone we encountered who works at the hotel were- they all seemed willing to go out of their way to make your stay as good as possible. The only thing I can think of to improve would be to change the pictures in the restaurant (thought they ruined what could be a really smart restaurant?) and perhaps have baby listening?!
