As frequent travellers to Portugal, we were surprised to discover that there is a thriving Portuguese community in St Helier. We are not lovers of the coffee chains but love the café culture in cities like Lisbon, with its delicious pastries always available. So we were delighted to find this no-nonsense establishment near our hotel.

The Portuguese love their coffee so we were confident of getting a decent cup, and we were not disappointed. Two 'galao' accompanied by pasteis de nata were just what we needed in the middle of an afternoon. Excellent coffee for just £1 a cup, with the wonderful, crisp custard tarts for the same price - bliss!

Service was friendly and everyone else in the place seemed to be chatting away in Portuguese. No frills or fancy touches, but a great place to stop off for a coffee.

On our arrival to Jersey, we searched a place open to eat a good and typical English breakfast. We randomly ended up at Alfonso's and were surprised by the prices. We were afraid that it will be bad quality food. It was not. We had a very generous full English breakfast, served by friendly people.

Visited a number of times during our stay in Jersey. Both hot and cold sandwiches in Portugese Rolls were excellent and great value for money. Cakes were also varied and tasty. Service was friendly either for take away or eat in which we did for a couple of breakfasts.

The bread here is phenomenal! Had the breakfast roll and it was yummy. Great coffee too! Simple surroundings, clean and local flair.

Went there for breakfast to start off the day. Literally the best breakfast I had the whole entire stay. I had the standard size breakfast and I struggled to eat it, so it fills more than a hole & it's so Yummy.
