Owner description: The National Trust of Guernsey Victorian Shop and Parlour is one of the oldest complete properties situated within the walls of St Peter Port and boasts not only the original little shop with its museum contents and sweets weighed out by the quarter but a set of wooden reed shutters dating back to 1760 and a small Victorian Parlour. The shop stocks many items handcrafted in Guernsey plus Heritage seeds, local souvenirs, tea towels, cards, books, TreasureSand pendants, items from the Robert Opie Memorabilia range and toys. Old local coinage, first day covers, used stamps, old books and postcards, linen, bric-a-brac, second hand books and wooden buttons fill the Collectors Corner. We are sole stockists of knitting patterns designed locally for Guernsey Cobo Alice and Cobo Fred dolls and Puffin. Something for everyone! We are open from Easter until the end of September and nine days prior to Christmas.

Went into this shop when we stopped at Guernsey on a Cruise ship for the day. It has very interesting things about Guernsey and informative books, souvenirs and anything you want to know about the Island. Very interesting!

Won’t repeat what others have said but a lovely little shop with a basement. Has a lounge with the original furnishings. Sweets in jars on one side and on the other shelves with old foodstuffs etc still complete and untouched. Gorgeous little knitted teacosies and China available to buy as well as the usual National trust type gifts and also a few local trinkets . Gorgeous shop but only open certain times of year. Closes last week of September so we are glad we got in to see it. Staff are very knowledgeable on the history of the shop and also the surrounding area. Fascinating !

I am pleased you visited the shop and left such an accurate and comprehensive review. Your detailed review gives prospective visitors to the shop a brilliant guide of what to expect when they walk up Cornet Street to the National Trust of Guernsey Victorian Shop and Parlour. The volunteers working in the shop enjoy sharing their local knowledge and the shop history with visitors.

We have called in here before and always come away having bought something, even if just sweets or chocolate.(Twice thjis year)
Very interesting shop with a downstairs like a small Alladin's cave in addition to the upstairs shop.
There is a small room towards the rear which depicts a Victorian room.
The female staff are always very friendly, talkative and informative.
They are closed from the end of September for the Winter.

This was a little gem. A complete shop with things to buy (not Victorian prices). sweets in bottle sold in paper bags like they used to be. A lovely lady to talk you through the exhibits.

Thank you for your review. We try to keep items on sale competitively priced. The sweets are sold in the cone shaped bags and it is possible to pick’n’mix three different types of sweets in each quarter.

If you are in the High Street/ harbour area and have a spare 15 minutes to spare then a visit to this Victorian shop owned by the National Trust is worthwhile as it is free to enter. This historic building displays the items that were on sale when the shop closed about 50 years ago plus a room displaying Victorian furnishings and artefacts of the family that used to own the shop. It still functions as a shop but is no longer a grocers but sells sweets and gifts (in the basement). The staff who run the shop are friendly and informative.
