We stayed at The Nook for one night to break our journey home after visiting family in deepest darkest Cornwall.

The location of Moorhaven is great. Close enough to the A38 as to not get lost but not so close that you don't feel like you're "away from it all". The buildings have been really nicely restored and have a traditional feel.

The Nook itself is Tardis like and spotlessly clean. The finish is simple but really well done. The owners have used the space very well and everything has been thought of.

WiFi was a bonus and unlike some holiday lets which are let down by the heating in the winter, as a December visitor, I can confirm the heaters a) work and b) kick out a surprising amount of heat.

We had a little time the following day before we continued our long drive and took the opportunity to get out onto the moor. It's a real bonus that without the need for a car, within 10 minutes walk you can be on the moor and I was surprised by just how close it was. There's a gentle walk to the foot of a large hill and then a steep climb to the top (chocolate incentives for the child were needed!) and it was worth it. The views were genuinely awesome.

As we were coming back from Cornwall, we came over the Tamar Bridge and I think it was only about 20-30 minutes from Plymouth, a little further on to Exeter but overall, a great little gem for exploring that part of the world.

Management Response

Thank you for your review. We have been reluctant to install a coffee machine due to the environmental impact of the the single use pods. We are proud of our Sliver Green Tourism rating and are working towards making this a Gold, so this wouldn't be an option we would consider. However, we have taken your suggestion on board and will purchase a cafetière to enable future guests to enjoy "real" coffee while staying at The Nook!
