Enjoyed a relaxing week end break with family and friends celebrating Richard's 60th birthday playing golf, walking on the moor and not forgetting the memorable Bird of Prey display. Our room was upgraded with excellent views of Easdon Tor North Bovey and the surrounding countryside. Enjoyed the Sunday Lunch in the Edwardian Restaurant must complement the Hotel on it's excellent Cheese Board and the birthday cake and champagne. I would like to thank Frederico and the team for a most enjoyable week end break a very special place to stay no matter what the occasion.
We will be back in 2012.

This hotel is absolutely amazing and well worth the stay! I've stayed at some of the best hotels in the country and I can honestly stay this is the best one I've ever been visited.

Stunning scenery and location and the hotel and rooms are perfectly decorated.

The food was very good too.

The staff are brilliant, the first time we stayed we go given a guided tour and they are so helpful.

You even get an agenda in your room of the activities going on in the hotel that day. There are loads of activities and the leisure facilities are fantastic. The hotel doorway has wellies on each side for you to borrow and baskets of complimentary water.

The only downside is the journey down small country lanes, but it is well worth the drive!!!

Will be going back for sure!

Dartmoor is certainly charming. But if you want a real experience of English castles in the countryside, go to the peak district. There are many more. Less touristy, more charming, classier, cheaper and just better. It takes just as long to get there. There are also many more places to visit and stroll. Villages are also more intact. As for this hotel, it's a rip off. We get much better service, quality and better everything in the peak district. The restaurants, spa, reception areas all fail to meet expectations. Some need major refurbishment. Good for holders though I reckon.

We didn't stay at the hotel, but we did stop in for cream tea: which was delightful. The scones were homemade, the tea delicious, and the sandwiches were perfect. One of the best cream teas I have had.
Goodness only knows what the hotel was thinking when they built the modern extension on the side of the castle!

Room Tip: Avoid the modern extension side!

We treated ourselves to two nights here amongst an otherwise more modest holiday and weren't disappointed. The staff were lovely, our room and bathroom were very comfortable, and we really enjoyed spending time in the stately rooms, bar and dining room on the ground floor. We spent a day following some of the walking trails recommended by the hotel and very much enjoyed dinner in the dining room, especially the spectacular cheese selection. Definitely recommended for a special occasion.

Enjoyed a special evening at Bovey Castle celebrating our parents wedding 45th anniversary.
Knowing they had previously stayed and loved the hotel we arranged a family gathering for dinner. As we had children amongst the party we opted for the Bistro rather than the Edwardian Restaurant on this occasion and couldn’t fault it. We all had a great evening, amongst the party we sampled many of the options on the menu, the portions were generous and the food of excellent quality. A special thanks to the Manager Federico and his excellent staff for helping to make this such a special and enjoyable evening. We will be returning soon.
