Booked in to this hostel online, at the last minute (11pm night before!) for 3 nights with a couple of friends.
Aim of the trip was to escape London, work etc and get some nice walks in on Dartmoor - whilst spending as little as possible!!
This hostel fitted the bill perfectly. Firstly, it was almost empty as it is part of an adventure centre and so obviously caters to large groups (I'd imagine its full of scholl trips in the summer). Out of season it's very quiet.
The rooms were ok. Fuctional, clean and the beds were comfortable enough. About what you'd expect for the price.
The reception opening times was a moveable feast, but in fairness there were only 5 people in the hostel and there was always a staff member about.
The best feature of the hostel is definately the location. If you head down the hill on foot your in town inside ten minutes (banks, pubs etc). If you head uphill your on the moor in 15 minutes!
Overall its a friendly and cheap place and a great location to start walks on to Dartmoor from. Imagine its a very difference experience in the summer though (more activities & kids!!!)....More
