We (4 adults & 3 children) booked onto the 'winery talk & tour' this Tuesday. We were met by Hillary who gave us the introduction as to how Eastcott vineyard had evolved and has become what it is today. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the talk whilst sat in the lovely grounds enjoying the summer sun. We then were escorted up to the barn where the wine is produced. Richard explained what the shiny equipment did and how it did it. With questions answered and the information absorbed we were then offered two of their wines to taste. The pink sparkling wine was fab, so we bought a bottle to save for Christmas. Thanks for a fun and enjoyable afternoon.

Two hours of great explanations of the process by Hillary. Lovely wine .Worth a visit but don't follow sat nav ring for directions. Not a touristy place (no food or coffees etc) which was great ...no pressure to buy . Just enjoy.

I'm reviewing the wine as I didn't go on the tour. The pink fizz is superb, if you're in the area then buy some and celebrate something!

Myself and a friend had pre booked using our travelzoo voucher and we had a lovely afternoon learning more about how the wine was made and had a lovely tasting session at the end. If you are in the area and would like something different and original to do then this is well worth a visit.

This is not a tour. It is a lecture first of all standing outside, and then inside the building where the wine is made with nothing working or illustrating what you are being told. We were not even taken to see a vine growing. I consider it a complete waste of £8.00 each, even with the (miniscule) portions for the two wine tastings.

Hi Liz,
Thank you again for taking the time to share your views. May I also share publicly what we said in our previous e-mail response to your feedback.

From what you say, you joined one of our Winery Tours. This is described in our leaflets and on our website as: 'A guided tour of the winery, with an explanation of the winemaking process and tasting of at least 2 wines.' You are quite correct in that we do not visit the vineyard as part of this itinerary, but that is an option on our longer 'Grand Tour'.

Further as we can only make wine once a year, at the time of the grape harvest, it is not feasible to show the winery in action. We would not then be allowed to have visitors in a food production area for hygiene & safety reasons.

Our style of presentation has evolved over the years in response to customer feedback. We now provide the option of seating & may use a headset to ensure that everyone can hear. This is perhaps at the risk of making it more formal but we aim to strike the right balance.

I'm sorry that you did not enjoy your visit as much as expected. Yours is the first bad review we've ever had, so I hope that other readers will make up their own mind, which is of course what TripAdvisor is for.
