I've just read the ' terrible' review left on trip advisor after visiting the winery and I cannot disagree more. This is a small business not a large mechanised factory. I've seen both and to be honest small is better. The owner told us his story and showed us the processes in making the wines he produces. It was very interesting and we understood that due to the time of the season the grape weren't ready to process. The small set up means that this process is much more personal, in a large factory tour you get told and see the same stuff only without the personal touch and on a larger scale. The samples at the end are no larger.
It was a very interesting afternoon and I will not be buying French champagne again, the English sparkling is just as good!

We had a brilliant tour around the vineyard on the 'Vine to Wine' tour with Hilary. We really did track the progress of the wine from end to end, Hilary brought the journey to life through her personal insights and straight forward explanations, meaning the it was very easy to follow and very informative. The wines are really fantastic, we're definitely converts to English wine!

A lovely spot at Northlew - banks full of primrose and daffodils was the welcoming start to an excellent visit. A very informative and entertaining talk by one of the owners - Richard Waller - during a tutored tasting of rose and sparkling wines followed by a visit to the winery - bottling area. So interesting to see an English winemaker nearly at work and to hear about the trials and tribulations of producing wine in England! A just perfect outing for our wine drinking group of friends and most enjoyable way of spending 2 hours in such interesting company
The tasting area is in a quaint building on a flat area but there are steps up to the production area; good parking area.

Out of season on a cold wet December day, and I was the only visitor. No tours (would you want one on such a day?) but I was treated to a knowledgable discussion on their wines, and some insights into running an English vineyard.

Descriptions of the wine were honest and not a hard sell. The prices are not outrageous, and I managed to stock-up for Christmas. I'll be back for the tour in the summer.

A bit difficult to get to, especially if it's in Autumn/Winter time, due to the very narrow and single-track country roads. But when you arrive, you'll find a knowledgeable and helpful viniculturist (wine grower / producer) who seems like a member of the family, rather than a salesman.

Congratulations to them, for selling their fizz, to Marks and Spencer, so get it, before it becomes too famous!

Thank Mart S
