Our one night stay at Two Bridges was planned by my husband as a surprise ‘special’ birthday treat, and I can honestly say he couldn’t have picked a better hotel for a romantic getaway. We had passed by on many occasions when walking on the Moor, but had never been inside. The setting in itself is lovely, nestling in the valley, but with wonderful views of the surrounding tors. We arrived late afternoon and were greeted by a friendly receptionist who showed us to our room and explained everything that we needed to know. The (premier) room was a good size, prettily decorated and with a wonderful four poster bed. Spacious bathroom with jacuzzi bath and power shower. Dinner was the highlight, and lived up to its 2 rosette standard. After a drink in the comfy lounge area in front of a real fire, we were shown into the elegant dining room. A selection of 6 bread rolls between the two of us, with various butters, tapenade and pesto together with an amuse bouche was followed by another 3 courses, all very tasty and beautifully presented. The monkfish pakora was amazing! Unfortunately we were still so full of dinner in the morning, that we couldn’t manage the full Dartmoor breakfast!
Hopefully we can stay again for my 70th!More
